BACKGROUND

After doing well above my expectations in Convict 100 (My first MTB marathon) last year, I decided to sign up for CP and C100 this year hoping to match or better my time.

No dramas there.

Several weeks later, I mentioned to my friend Tanian, a very promising all round MTBer in his early high school years who had given it up over the recent past in trade it for rugby, and without warning, he announced he would sign up with me; Canberra was a good halfway point from his university in Wagga Wagga.

Cascades update for 17 Mar

Area:
Cascades
Status:
Green/Open

Some puddles still and some surprise rocks on the lines on the landing zones on the downhill side of the waterbars, so sight your line before you leave the ground - steering in the air can be tricky Eye-wink

Otherwise good. Set a PR on Quarry climb, so track condition must be pretty good - can't possibly be the rider Sticking out tongue

Fox Float RP23 exploded

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

G'day Peeps!
Went for a city ride with the kids yesterday, and came back to our chained up bikes to discover a large puddle of fluid under my bike. Investigation found source was my Fox RP23 rear shock. There's actually oil all around its position to I'm guessing some seal failed pretty suddenly. In effect I've lost all damping (it still rests where it should, but now just bounces like a pogo stick).

2013 Absa Cape Epic

Just a reminder for those interested the Absa Cape Epic starts today.

Being the 10th anniversary of the event, and the number of pro teams entered this year, it is sure to be an exciting event.
Sauser & Kulhavy will be very hard to beat, especially as they are riding in memory of the late Burry Stander.

Lined up in the first start wave at 6:50am, with about 65 other riders... sun wasn't up yet, and with plenty of nervous anticipation and high expectations for the new course, waited for the start. Off we went, with a bit of flat fire trail leading straight into a couple of small climbs. With plenty of dust flying around and a bit of fog about, I had very limited visibility through my dark-tinted glasses. Lesson learned - wear clear lenses next time!

Pleasant temps and a bit of misty drizzle for the start. Organisation at the new start was pretty good, with rider briefings in the car park followed by a short ride down to the start line. The initial fire trail hills in the Arboretum were a bit of a slog and left my legs feeling a bit dead. Should have warmed up properly eh?

Price:
1,100.00

For sale is my 2011 Giant Reign 2, size medium.

I've owned this bike since late 2010 and must say that although it hasn't taken any big drops, been abused downhill or jumped, it has been ridden often. It does have cable rub, scratches and stone chips. Thats what happens to a mountain bike when you ride it.

Now the good news...
Fork and shock have both had seals replaced and work perfectly.
Bearings in the upper swing arm are brand new as is the D.U. bushing. Receipts available. Lower bearings were replaced late last year.
