Awaba State Forest update for 10 Mar

Status:
Green/Open

XC is in good condition. A few tacky spots but otherwise in perfect riding condition. DH trail is also awesome! I need to try and come up here more often. Well worth the drive.

Royal National Park update for 09 Mar

Status:
Green/Open

On my usual 24K loop starting from Loftus Oval to Engadine and Heathcote. The tracks are 95% dry, some real muddy bits at the singletrack that crosses the creek. Other singletracks are nice and grippy.
Some puddles big and small along the firetrail that goes along the train tracks

Your bike will need some cleaning

Great Northern Road update for 09 Mar

Status:
Green/Open

Trail was in much better condition than expected. Almost as good as it gets. We were riding laps of the technical section to the T junction with the Western Commission trail. Very few puddles, apart from the permanent ones. Quite sandy in places. All good.

The trail out to the Finches Line lookout had a few fallen trees which could generally be avoided or bunny hopped. Just exercise a little caution if you head out to the lookout as some of the fallen trees were on the faster sections.

Red Hill update for 09 Mar

Area:
Red Hill
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

If you know how to link it up and keep away from the mud then okay with some puddles. Remember to ride through the puddles so the track doesn't widen.

I wouldn't go near Lady Penrhyn, XC loops. Recommended avoid rim ride single track. These are likely still Red.

Best access is Cromer Road then down Itchy and up Drop Zone. Loop at the top and back down Drop Zone. Puddles at bottom of drop zone on sand.

This means you ride on either quick draining track or rock.

Cascades update for 09 Mar

Area:
Cascades
Status:
Green/Open

Only just green. Lots of puddles still and sand is really taking toll on the drivetrain. Needs a few more dry windy days to be at its best.

Servicing Time ATAC XS pedals

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I spent this morning replacing the bearings and bushes in two sets of Time pedals and thought I'd share for anyone else that maybe running these pedals. Over the years my Time's developed some play so I thought I'd replace the internals myself.

Here is how I did it:
1) Remove the end caps. I improvised using two small screwdrivers but a set of circlip pliers will probably make things easier.
2) Remove the nut on the end of the axle.
3) The axle is quite snug in the bearing. You will need to use a drift or similar to tap out the axle.

Ourimbah State Forest update for 08 Mar

Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Rode the full XC including lost forest and long meadows. There is a fair bit of water/mud. The graveyard had been closed at some stage but riders have taken the tape/sign down and I would say it is no worse than other parts of the track.

I'm calling it amber since it is OK with a bit of mud. A couple more days of sun/heat and it should be green.

Want to Trade: Swap Garmin 705 for 500

Price:
0.00

As I don't ever want maps and don't use any of the 705 features I'd like to swap my 705 for a smaller 500 model. It doesn't contain maps but comes with 4 mounts.
I'd prefer the 500 to come with more than one mount as I don't want to have to spend too much on getting more for all my bikes.
705 is a few years old but is in good condition with no major damage and has worked faultlessly for the whole time I've had it.
