Stromlo Forest Park update for 21 Oct
Rode the main trail today, most of the track is dry with just a few spots still holding water. Parts of the track have become fairly eroded but still very much rideable. The areas that they've repaired with the new track material seem to be holding together well and they were out again today doing more patching up.

A tasty pole
Given plans for an Ikea bike pole fell through I went for one of these. It's called a Velo Cache and made by Feedback Sports - the same guys that make those awesome red anodised workshop stands. Cost a fair bit more but doesn't need to wedge between floor and roof and has a quality feel and look you'd expect from these guys.

In for the Fling Mega Loop
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
End of Ralston Ave, Belrose - this is on the East side of Garigal National Park.
Badly needed training for the Fling. This will be a mega-loop on the Northern Beaches, about 70km all up. Starting at Cascades, up to Wildflower Garden, across to Terrey Hills (L + P + DH + C), down Powderworks Road, along Slippery Dip Trail and Morgan Road through Oxford Falls, arrive back at Belrose. Home, beer, big steak dinner and then bed.
Main aim is to finish rather than flog myself. A decent pace but mainly try to stick to brief stops but this will all depend how the legs feel as have not done a ride this long.

Clear 'sun' glasses for night riding
I've ridden the Oaks at night twice in the last couple of months and my el-cheapo triple lens (clear, yellow & tinted) Anaconda specials just aren't good enough for night riding.
I own a pair of Rudy Project sunglasses for day riding and I am mostly happy with them. I sweat profusely which means these tend to fog up a little bit.

Ryland update for 20 Oct
This is a trail that needs to be wet... Deep sand almost threw me off a few times.
Nice and dry and with the warm weather lots og goannas sunning themselves on the trail

Northern Beaches ride
I want to get a few k's up to see if I am up to competing in the Fling.
My plan is to ride Red Hill up through Oxford Falls through Cascades over to Terry Hills down through Narrabeen to complete a big loop - legs and lungs permitting.
Just seeing if anyone would be interested if, so I will post a ride.

Great Northern Road update for 19 Oct
Has been a while since I last rode up here. The winter rains haven't been too kind and have left a lot of loose rocks around it's a lot more scrabbly in places. So if you haven't ridden up here for a while then take care. Also some works have been done to isolate sections for preservation, a b-line has been built for MTBrs. Otherwise it's all great fun. Go ride!

Riding Buddies for regular rides
Hi, I am looking for someone or small group to ride with on a regular basis.
By way of background I ride mainly socially and regularly ride Duck Hole/Centre Track/Perimeter Trail. I am in the fifty age group and ride for the exercise and enjoyment and meeting new people. My fitness level is average to above average, I ride a Giant Trance XC 3. I also enjoy the night rides.
I am not a fast rider, slow up hills but can handle the flat and downhill sections fairly quick.
Looking forward to receiving some repliesif yuo think I can be accommodated.
Cheers,
Cliff W
