Oaks Trail Status?
Got a ride down The Oaks booked with a few mates for Sunday. Does anyone have an update on the state of the trail with all the rain the last few days?
Rain's supposed to clear substantially overnight Saturday evening, but I read just a few minutes ago there has been land slippage interrupting Blue Mountains train services, including one at Woodford. http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/02/04/28...
This'll be my first time on Oaks - but I'd rather it not be on a wet slippy trail. Any current information would be welcome.

fitting tight tyres
Trying to fit a new Schwalbe Nobby Nic Tubeless tyre onto a Bontrager Race Lite tubeless rim and I can get one sideof the tyre on but the bead on the other side is impossible to get over the rim. I tried soapy water and plastic tyre levers with no luck. Anyone have any suggestions?

Cape to Cape MTB race on TV
Wet weekend - nothing to watch on the box? Caqe to Cape Race from WA is on ONE tomorrow morning at 9am. Set the recorder.

McPhails + Meryla Pass Group Ride - Feb 28th?
I'm looking at doing another McPhail's downhill + Meryla Pass ride soon,
and I thought I'd see if there was interest in doing it as a group ride.

I recall that few guys on here mentioned being keen to do this one, so it's
just a matter of finding a good date that works for everyone.
Based on the previous thread, the popular choice was to park at the bottom
and do the Meryla Pass ascent first, then ride back down McPhails.
The rough plan would be meet in the Valley at 8am (this would mean leave

Broke 40!
Dropped under the 40 min mark for the first time, I reckon I can get it down to 35!?

small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.
Just a last minute ride of Perimeter track at Terry Hills is approx 14km's can explore some other tracks if time permits. Is not going to be a hectic pace just a ride to get out and make the most of this bad weather.

Manly Dam update for 03 Feb
Went out at 2pm. Mostly good, but lots of puddles on high side on single trail between bowlers and Wakehurst start. Probably best to leave a day.
Do you have more information?
If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.

Red Hill Reserve car park, off Lady Penryhn Drive, Beacon Hill. Another option is to ride over here from Oxford Falls.
A tour of the hill for anyone that's up for it.
Its not a Downhill ride, nor is it an XC ride.. lets just call it a technical ride
Planning about a 15K ride, no real need for armor, i don't wear it (famous last words?) but of course your more than welcome to wear it as there will be plenty of opportunities to go crazy ( if your into that kinda thang ).. you just gotta be prepared to wear it for some uphill as well.
