Tyres - For Wet/Muddy Conditions.

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi Everyone!

I fairly new to Mountain Biking and this is my first post here on these forums!

Apologies if i have missed a post on this topic, i had a look around, and some helpful topics but nothing regarding wet/muddy coniditions and tyres

I've been riding since about September last year, I am currently using a CrossMark 2.1 on the Rear, and a Rendez 2.1 on the Front. These have done very well over the last month or so since i put them on the bike. The set that is sitting ont he sidelines now are Specialized - The Captains 2.0/2.2 which came with my bike.

[Hornsby Area] Please "Bang the Table"!

Please "Bang the Table" and comment and/or vote on some of the pro mountain bike comments:

www.bangthetable.com/oldmansvalleyhornsby

We want MTB incorporated more within the design. We need a MTB link to go from Hornsby, down to the Fire Trails in the valley. This is THE (almost only) ideal location to get out of the valley and up to the Hornsby Plateau.

It doesn't matter where you live, you may like to visit one day and ride the trails once we secure them.

All support appreciated.

Thank you!

From Bike North:....looking for volunteers to count cyclist for Super Tuesday

Dear everyone

As you may be aware 'Super Tuesday' was started in Victoria to try to obtain hard data on the number of people cycling past selected locations on a single day of the year. In 2009, it was attempted in Sydney and the City of Sydney was the key participator.

Melbourne hire

Does anyone know anywhere specific in Melbourne where I can hire a decent rig to try out a few of the tracks mentioned in this thread: http://nobmob.com/node/12158

Also any tracks worthwhile within reasonable driving distance of the CBD?

Very happy with a sub 35

Date:
2 Feb 10

Last week new PB (36:27) after trying to bet (37:15) for 12 months and a week later beat it again with a sub 35. Ecstatic as a 35min was a goal.

Max HR

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

There's been a lot of talk on the forums about the lower end of one's HR. I just wanted to ask something about the other end of the scale....the maximum HR.

On the ride this morning into work I was surprised to see that my HR monitor told me that the max HR for the ride was 203bpm. That seems high if one uses that old 220-age formula (I'm 28). I don't think it is an error either as I have seen it in the 190's before. The average HR for the ride was 158bpm for the 1hr 12min ride. I find my resting HR is usually in the mid 50's.

Resting Heart Rate

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

After seeing Pivot Mach 5 resting heart rate I thought I should measure mine as I haven't measured it for over 12 months. I had stopped riding in March 09 due to work and didn't start up until about November 09 so I had no idea what to expect. I did a quick test on the lounge which had it at about 49bpm. I then wore the HRM while sleeping last night and below is the profile. It looks blank but the Heart Rate tab has the info. Also amazingly I gained 27m elevation, no wonder I wake up tired Sticking out tongue
