night rides in Northern Sydney (Hornsby area)

Hi all,
Looking to do some night rides this winter.
Got a sick new light want to make use of.
Anyone know of some good trails near Hornsby ?
(Apparently not cool to do night rides at old mans valley)
Any body else keen or know of some organized rides in Northern Sydney area?
Anyone heading out regular and wouldn't mind a tag along?
Are the regular Terry Hills rides still still happening?
Cheers Dan

Rear shock play...?

Hoping someone can enlighten me a little. So I've been riding a lot more of late, but I generally look after the bike (cleaning) well. Use the spray to help get dirt out of suspension seals etc. When washing the bike over the weekend, lifted it by the seat to swing the rear around and heard a knock. Have since isolated the sound to the rear shock. Seems to be some 'lateral' play in it. It's an FSR arrangement. Checked the bolts - none loose. Is the seal stuffed?

Any hints or tips, much appreciated.

Withdrawn: Bianchi Methanol 29 Large Team Edition

Note that this is "Withdrawn" so is here for archive purposes only.
Below is a preview, click to read the full post
Price:
2,800.00

Up for sale is my 2013 Bianchi Methanol 29 SL Team Edition. It is in excellent condition, and is an absolute race weapon. The bike is the current model used on the World XC circuit. It looks and is fast.

The bike has been meticulously maintained. There are a few light scuff marks on the fork, but the fork seals and internals are excellent.

The frame is in near perfect condition. Drivetrain has plenty of life left in it. The cassette and chain have only done 200km, and the bike has only done 1200km in total.

Has brand new Maxxis Ikon tyres setup tubeless on it.

The Oaks update for 14 Jun

Area:
The Oaks
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Fire trail from Glenbrook to the helipad is in great condition, from then on it's quite sandy. It's hard packed mostly just watch for washing out in some loose corners. Eye protection is highly recommended - my eyes are still red raw from the amount of grit flicked in them.

Amber status as the last section (new bit) of singletrack is closed for repairs. I didn't notice the signs on the way up and was gutted to see the closed signs halfway down the singletrack.

Wildflower Garden update for 14 Jun

Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Wildflower garden was in surprisingly good condition today. I was expecting it to be much wetter. There were dry lines through everything except the real low-lying sections where the groundwater runs across the sandstone rocks.

Muppets on the other hand is copping damage from people riding it. Trees across the usual lines in a couple of spots have forced people out and around into wet areas and it's getting cut up badly. Other sections are just a bog fest.

Lots of traffic today.

It really would be better if people stayed off it until it has dried out.

Terrey Hills update for 14 Jun

Status:
Green/Open

Perim from Nerang is amber - major puddles and bog-fest. Do-able if you like washing your bike, but I'd skip it on the outbound lap unless you like grinding your drivetrain to bits..

From the Jap School and out to Long it is great. Tacky & fast. Set a PR up the Long Track pinch, so traction ain't bad.

Cowan Track is great. Not sure whether I'm getting better (unlikely) or if they've done something to the track but it seemed much easier today than usual.

Best trails when short of time ..

Hi,

Let me start by introducing myself, I am Jan from The Netherlands. I will visit Australia for a very short time this July. I will stay in the Hyams Beach area.

I would love play around in the area (either MTB or trail running) but due to my limited time, I would appreciate if you could give me some tips. I looked at the detailed map of the area and Jerrawangala national park (with Tianjara Falls ) look really nice. Bur perhaps you know some places which are more spectacular or simply beautiful?

Thanks a lot,
Jan
