sandpaper + disc brakes = ??
Hi all,
i recently purchased Avid Juicy 7 Carbons with new 8" rotors and i broke them in slowly never really slamming on the brakes.
I was told that they may have 'baked' the pads, as i should have been braking hard to break in the discs and pads.
It was suggested that i take out the pads and sand them down a bit with a find grain sandpaper and do the same to the discs.
Is this a good/bad thing to do?
anybody else have experience in this area?
Totally different question as well: which pads are best: organic, metallic or ceramic?
thanks

What Sporty City Commuter MTB to buy?
Hi guys,
I need a suggestion for a bike a colleague wants. He is looking into commuting to work on a bike. Commute is about 20km every day, so the bike needs to allow good speed and efficiency. As he is absolutely not looking into taking the bike anywhere off the beaten track, off-road capabilities can be limited to the minimum.
Here is what I would be suggesting:
- for Sydney roads and tracks I would look into a MTB style bike
- stay with a hardtail, but look into buying a good suspension fork, 80mm probably being enough to provide comfort over crappy roads and potholes

Attempted Murder?
You're kidding me!
A CARLOAD of hoons deliberately rammed a group of cyclists on the way to the start of yesterday's Around The Bay In A Day ride in Victoria - Australia's largest cycling event.
Ten riders were left cut and bruised on the road as the car sped from the scene.
...
"They yelled out, 'W-----s'. They said, 'Bloody bike riders, we're going to kill you bastards'," he said.
The hooligans drove ahead before approaching from the opposite direction five or 10 minutes later and veering into the path of the riders.

29 inches of pleasure - my new ride has arrived
It has been worth waiting for...
My new ride, custom built around my beloved Rohloff Speedhub...
If you think it all looks like a normal bike, you'd be right...the whole thing is in proportion - the frame is 25", wheels are 29" and those cranks are 210mm long..
No more "why are you riding a BMX mista" for me from you shorties while I'm on the Zinn. See you'ze out on the trails..
