Didn't ride the full Dam loop as I did Possums, Serrata and Pipeline before rejoining the Dam track, but everything was dry and in good condition. Get out there!

Off for an Epic adventure!

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Well tomorrow I am finally off on an adventure almost a year in the planning. About this time last year I was excitedly following the race reports from the SXC racing team who were riding in the Cape Epic. Unfortunately their race did not quite go to plan but now it's my turn. I entered somewhat on the spur of the moment but have had a whole year to prepare.

It's been a long year of training, a steep learning curve (I am relatively new to cycling) and lots of early mornings. I've ridden heaps of kays, climbed lots of meters and I guess I am ready as I'll ever be.

Hello everyone,

For sale is my very, very trusty steed. My 2011 stumpjumper fsr expert evo. Bough it new back in 2011 and have had it ever since. Bike is in immaculate condition and lovingly maintained. Every ride washed down and lubed, every second ride chain comes off and gets cleaned and every 10 cassette and cranks come off and get cleaned. Very few of these floating around, ive never seen another one on the trails and it wont be mistaken for anything else for its very green appearance Smiling

Manly Dam update for 06 Mar

Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Green/Open

Rode it yesterday afternoon and it was in good condition and 99.2% dry. A few small puddles but nothing to ride through the bushes to avoid. Gahnia was officially shut so I avoided that but did Possums which turned out to be a highlight. Someone has done a nice job of clearing any overgrowth and even put in a few small flyoffs for added fun. Thanks whoever this was!

Looking Back; Always Rolling Forward - A memoir

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

(I wrote this two weeks ago but haven't gotten around to posting it until now. I thought people may enjoy reading the story of how I got to where I am now.)

This is a piece I had planned to write for my 21st birthday, but being in the middle of semester, that never happened, so thought I'd take this opportunity whilst I'm recovering from being separated from my wisdom teeth and not allowed to cycle to reflect on the years gone by and think about the future.

Can I use Avid Rotors with Shimano Brakes?

On my XC I run Avid Elixir 7's with standard 180/160 rotors
On my Enduro I run Avid Elixir 5's, with 200/180 rotors (upgraded because Im fat bastard).

The braking power I get out of the 7s is far greater than the 5's despite the rotor increase.

If the Elixir 7's were still available I'd simply upgrade however with the current bargains to be found online with Shimano XT I was considering switching brands.

The question is, can I use my Avid HS1 Rotors with Shimano Brakes?
