Back to Back Yamma again

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Had another blast racing around the dry and dusty tracks of Back Yamma Forest this year.

From the start we were off in a cloud of dust, with a bit of jockeying for positions prior to the first bit of single track. I’d been a bit casual about the start, so was in a large bunch and settled down to about 10th place in a train once the single track started. Must have been a few dozen on ahead as well.

Kessel Run Camden closed?

Just seen a link to this on FB. Gutted as it's one of the best flowing trails in Sydney. Sad

Does this happen in MTB racing?

I noticed the word 'chop' coming up in my Strava feed a bit and decided to look into what it meant. Very interesting and something I knew nothing about.
my question is, does this happen in MTB racing?

For those that haven't got a clue what I'm on about, here's a link

New chain prep

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I've just fit a new cassette, freehub and chain and wondered what everyone does with the factory chain grease.
Do you leave it on, degrease it and put your favourite lube on or something different?
Answers below...

Here's a couple of pics of the old chain against the new to show wear.

Commuter/secondary light like a Knog but more robust?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Most 24 hour races stipulate we should all have 'secondary' light for when our main wizz-bang 'like the sun' set fails. Plus, when out night riding it's always handy to have a red tail light. Such small lights are also pretty handy on your commute or to be seen on the road too.

I've been using a set of Knog Blinder 4 like this for a while (maybe 18 months). Up until recently I would have said they were great and highly recommended, but in the course of the last few weeks one has decided it doesn't want to re-charge any more and the strap on the other broke. Game over.
