Red Hill Sampler
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Red Hill Reserve car park, off Lady Penryhn Drive, Beacon Hill. Another option is to ride over here from Oxford Falls.
As promised..
Plan is to ride most of Red Hill, linking it all up to avoid too much "hike a bike", so you will need 2L of fluids for this one.
This is NOT a fire trail cruise so please don't turn up if you don't got adequate health insurance for coverings of helicopter evacuations and sexy time with nurses while in hospital with broken bodies... OK.. seriously.. Red Hill can break bones and bikes and you will probably bleed at some time on this ride.
if it rains between now and Sunday morning I will cancel the ride as my bike refuses to let me ride it there if its damp.

Heading to the Rotorua Redwoods for a hit and run - all tips welcomed!!
Hi Everyone (not sure what category I should have put this post)
Im heading to the Rotorua Redwoods the weekend after next for a hit and run. Saturday afternoon and Sunday until I can't ride no more (so maybe lunch).
Im hiring because I have the work trip from hell either side of Rotovegas and don't want to be lugging the bike box around. I'm staying at the Alpin and have a car.

Ourimbah State Forest update for 09 Jan
Track is tacky and rad, but please approach the wooden wall ride/berm at 5 way with caution as it is broken and not ride-able. We put makeshift branches down to divert traffic, but its not foolproof.

Andersons update for 09 Jan
Have been just advised by NPWS that the tree on Andersens's descent was removed on the 3/1/2014.
I haven't been out there personally, but all should be good based on this report.

Yellomundee Regional Park update for 09 Jan
On Saturday 11 Jan, WSMTB and friends will be doing track maintenance at Yellomundee from 8.30am to around 12. Feel free to come and help out!
Riders please note:
- Max's Bridge area will be closed off as the entry ramp is replaced
- there will be general mowing and edge cutting, especially between the Quad Jumps and Hidden Bridge, and around Shaws Farm. So please ride carefully, and look/listen for track work.
Thanks
Ray Rice
XC VP WSMTB

Wheels - Have you damaged a wheel?
I am looking at getting a spare set of wheels to save my lovely carbon hoops for races, but it occurred to me that I probably only need to get a rear wheel as I would assume that wheel damage is on the rear 95% of the time as it bears the vast bulk of the weight. No point in wasting cash unnecessarily.
Do you agree or disagree?
[Mod. moved to MTB gear - you're talking about MTB wheels, right?]
