Riding with a repaired achilles rupture
Is anyone familiar with recovery from an achilles rupture and riding trails with the boot on?
Ruptured my right leg a few weeks ago and currently in the robocop boot.
My ortho surgeon is not comfortable with the idea of riding, pointing out traction issues and reinjury, so advised against it.
But quite a few patients have hit the road first and eventually onto the trails, with the exception of this fella pictured.

I have flat pedals on my AM rig and dont really intend to hit the tech stuff until later in my recovery.

Ourimbah State Forest update for 18 Sep
Rode hear with a couple of mates early Sunday morning. Managed to bash out three laps before the locals had their race event. This track is truly fantastic with great variety. The CCMTB do a fantastic job maintaining what is a true asset. Well done to them!

Blue Mountains Early Sunday morning ride: Oaks up and back

No bike for 2 1/2 weeks
New bike bought 10 days ago and since then have had to pump up the Fox RP23 twice due to pedal bob. Also non-stop oil leak so enough is enough. Back to place of purchase today who took one look and said "yep that's not right". They have been told by Fox it will be 2 1/2 week turn around time on repairs, what a joke. Not happy Jan and no demo bike for loan us unfortunately I need an XL frame. No riding for 2 1/2 weeks 
stupid vibration under brakes
Ok - so i have a problem ... (all funny conotations aside - most of which are probably true 
)
I have a 2011 stumpy FSR 29er - running jetblack front and rear rims, 203mm discs front and rear, Avid elixir hydraulic brakes
the issue i have is this - whenever i apply enough pressure on the rear brake lever so that the pads grab the disc - the whole frame vibrates and makes a shrieking sound, the front brakes are perfectly fine.
this is what i have done so far to try and remedy the issue
- tried the stock 185mm rear (no difference)
- new pads (no difference)
Now looking for a place to live!

The tides have turned and I am now looking for a place to live, preferably a 2 bedroom place, to share with one other, somewhere around the Manly Vale/Brookvale area. Looking at spending $250 a week for a room.
I am a 27 year old single male, Working full time near edgecliff, I have 2 bikes and love my riding. I am non smoking, quiet, reasonably tidy, like to keep fit and do a bit of sailing also.

Access to Garigal fire roads near JJ Melbourne Hills
Was just looking at my route trace for today's ride to Terrey Hills and back, and noticed that there appears to be a fire road network starting up near the Terrey Hills BMX track running down into Garigal east of Forest Way.
However, I can't quite see how to make the few hundred metres link from the end of Kamber Road to the start of the fire trail as it looks from the satellite map it may pass through private land or some sort of facility.

Mount Annan Botanic Garden update for 16 Sep
As good as it gets! After my snake meeting yesterday on a bike path (ref separate thread) played the odds and went bush today. Chances of 2 in 2 days...
Was test riding a 29er hardtail. Had heaps of fun. Will do a writeup when I get time.
