Terrey Hills update for 16 Sep

Status:
Green/Open

Perimeter and Long in great condition today. One boggy section, the rest is bone dry.

Still some smell from the hazard reduction burn, and while not particularly strong, if you are asthmatic you may wish to take it into consideration.

Option B would be to enter from the Japanese School as this only affects the section behind the houses from the Nerang Avenue entrance.

Royal National Park update for 16 Sep

Status:
Amber/Some Issues

I've made this amber/some issues only because the sniggle section from Loftus sports oval through to Farnell Avenue (main road into the park) is still officially off limits to the public due to the bushfire prevention burnoff that has taken place recently. There are NPWS signs and tape up at all entrances to the trails saying so. Although I did speak to riders and walkers who said they are ignoring the signs and riding and walking the sniggle section regardless. The fire trail from Farnell Avenue to Engadine / Heathcote is open and thankfully, very dry.

My first snake of the season

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Being the snake magnet I am I don't do as much riding alone anymore out in the bush. So yesterday I'm just riding along clocking up km on the cycle way behind Prospect Reservoir when I stumbled upon this dude wriggling across my path.

I'm on the hardail. I've got the knobblies on. Looks like I might have to grow my beard back too. Eye-wink

Stem....help please

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi Folks,

My saddle and bars are at roughly the same level even though my stem is flipped and I have removed the spacers. I am keen to drop the handlebars to get more weight over the front wheel and guess the most logical way is to get a stem with more of an angle (mine is very little....on the Giant XTC 29er).

If anyone has a spare stem lying around that I could try for a couple of weeks, I would be very appreciative. I could then either buy it from you if it works well or return to you if you don't want to sell it (or if the angle is wrong).

Thanks
Ian
