Manly Dam update for 23 Sep
My first and maybe last Manly Dam update for a while.
Track was fairly dry. No sign of any attacking butcher birds, this would have been great for the video.

Knapsack Reserve update for 23 Sep
First time through here and managed to get thoroughly off-piste fortunately a local spotted us and pointed us back in the right direction, 10 minutes after which we managed to get lost again. You just can't help some people!
Some brilliant tracks through here, definitely have to come back and explore in greater depth.

The Oaks update for 23 Sep
The fine dust muninjitsu reported last week seems to have been swept away for the most part, and there are some lines forming. Some corners still have coarse gravel the size of 5 and 10 cent pieces in place of the dust, so keep your eyes open.
The singletrack section was great. Looks like some work has been done since I rode it last, which was last year. Well done to NPWS and the trail fairies.

26" Dually vs 29" HT - best bike for the Fling?
I'm currently training for the highland fling (half), so I mapped out a 60km ride that includes 1200m of climbing, single track, fire trails and a few roads to link it all up. For the first couple of weeks I rode it on my 29" carbon HT, and my times were consistently around 3:08 to 3:10. Rode it on my 26" dually today, and it took 3:22. Now the dually is 2kg heavier and has Kenda Nevegal tyres (the HT has Racing Ralphs), but I was surprised how much quicker I am on the HT.

Cascades update for 23 Sep
Great riding this morning, dry and fast down cascades and Heath.
What a great little area, first time riding cascades as well as first time out with clipless pedals and cleated shoes. Big difference pedalling up hills. Had the obligatory sideways fall when I stopped and momentarily forgot I was clipped in - probably wont forget again!

Terrey Hills update for 23 Sep
Fine and dandy! One or two or three puddles between Nerang Ave and Jap School. Noice.

New seat post length
Hi guys,
I've finally decided on the KS Lev as my first dropper seat post, mainly because I don't think the Fox is worth an extra $100+ and because I can't test it without buying it! I've got a question about the size I'd need/want though.
My current seat post is a 31.6x350mm carbon fiber one, with approx 140mm inserted from the bottom (90mm minimum insert plus an extra 50mm). I'm not sure which would be a better post for me:
1) 335mm post / 100mm drop
2) 385mm post / 125mm drop

what a day :(
Ok so today drove up to Awaba to ride.. all the way from sydney....
My first hint it was going to be a bad day should have come from the fact that i was already feeling ill with a stomach bug of sorts.... but i thought hell lets push on and get up there and see how things go
anyway after cruising through the 1st 2km or so with cc rider and friend i started to keel over in pain - i took a bit of a break hoping my stomach would settle out, i had to bite the bullet and keep going (you woulda thought i would have realised something isn't right by now..)
