2012 Wombat 100 - Tough Course

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

That was definitely the hardest 100 I have done. On the Hardtail with so much technical singletrack I am stoked with my time. We had rain the night before so the pine forest singletrack was very greasy.

Even though this was the hardest 100 I've done it was also one of the most relaxing. The 900km drive each way didn't seem that big. I headed down Friday morning with Wayne arriving Friday afternoon. Checked in at Cammeray Waters as I had a room in where race central was. We unloaded the car and then headed out to have dinner with Wayne, Paul and Anthony.

Appin XC track maintenance

Below is a preview, click to read the full post
When:
Saturday, 19 May, 2012 - 08:00

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Ride Database Entry:
Appin
Meeting Point:

North end of Burke St, Appin. There's a small parking area here at the trail head.

Note that the map shows Market Street connecting Appin Rd to this location but that is actually a firetrail and will not work for drivers who should take King St (next block South) and enter from there.

Show on Google maps: Meeting point. Login or register to get directions.

Bring your own tools if possible. I'll try to ge some from WMBC as well.

We might look at doing a bit of rock armouring and drainage work on the 'new' singletrack after Kings Falls Bridge from the firetrail. I'm pretty keen to just walk the whole track with a McLeod and clean out the drainage too. That'll take about the full 4 hours if I can't get it done before this scheduled maintenance.

The Oaks update for 21 Apr

Area:
The Oaks
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Road The Oaks today, no train service when we went due to some electrical failure. The Glenbrook Causeway was still closed to vehicle access. The causeway was passable by foot although you will get wet shoes as it's still about 20cm deep. Watch out for a snake about half way through the singletrack which gave us a bit of a fright!

Terrey Hills update for 21 Apr

Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Wet - The huge amount of rain during the week hasn't done the trails any favors. Unrideable before the Japanese school, the Nerang rd. end looks like someone has taken a MTB tyre plough down it.

Mountain skating, anyone?

Might be the thing to try if you're sick of cleaning abrasive crud out of your drive train and brakes, and Muni's don't float your boat Eye-wink
