Nice track, two aggro kiwis... :-)

Disclaimer: I found all kiwi MTB'ers to be courteous on their amazing trails... these two must be the exception... Smiling

For a bit of Easter humour read this NZ MTB'er's post: "Assaulted On The Flying Nun, Christchurch"

Note: Read all the comments (page 3) on this NZ thread below to get the full picture...not just the short video Eye-wink

http://www.vorb.org.nz/assaulted-the-flying-nun-...

Q: After seeing the longer video: Was the rider up his rear too pushy or not?

Chain quick connects

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

My chain broke again today while doing a Manly Dam loop, luckily i was on the last downhill stretch before crossing the dam when it happened. When I got home I went to repair my chain and noticed that I already had 2 quick connects (one was when i first bought the chain and the second was from a previous break 6 months ago which I repaired trackside).

As it stands now I have installed the third one (mainly to save cost of buying a new chain).

Great Northern Road update for 08 Apr

Status:
Green/Open

Other than some of the bigger puddles its all dry. There are a couple of trees down across the fire roads. I expect they will be cleared in the next 4 weeks.

Yellomundee Regional Park update for 08 Apr

Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Have re-posted the official status report from last week below this update:
Popped in for a quick look on the way down the mountains. Most of the trails are blocked off or too wet and unstable, so we didn't ride them.
There was one dry/stable but VERY short loop to play on.
It was the tight single trail to the east (over the white tractor tyre etc). Follow it north to the tarred Rd then turn left and follow a short way. Left again back up onto tight loopy single trail heading south to join White tyre again.
Otherwise, don't bother really... Stay away.

Official status from last week:
Yellomundee is finally drying out a bit, and hopefully will be OK on Sunday 1 April for a Club XC round (all welcome!).
But there are still a few issues out there due to erosion damage in Jan/Feb/March:
- both bridges over Shaws Creek are gone, and the trail down to the Trotting Track has dangerously deep wash aways. So please don't ride north of the tarred road at Shaws Farm. This area has been roped off with bunting and signs (not that everyone can read it seems!).
- the area west of the fire road up towards the transmission lines (Tower of Pwer, V Ditch, etc) has massive erosion damage. Please stay clear. Again, it has been roped off with bunting and signs.
- there are other areas with areas of mud. Please don't widen the track or churn it up. Just get off and walk for a few metres please.

As always, if it has rained in the past few days then please give YRP a miss. It is still very damp out there.

thanks

Winmalee update for 08 Apr

Area:
Winmalee
Status:
Green/Open

- Shaws Ridge Trail is generally good. The downhill at the north end is rocky, some erosion ruts, and a downed tree you can ride over, take care.

- Blue Gum Swamp Trail has some short soggy patches at northern end (and near the old fireplace/BBQ), then generally improving as you head south.

Blackheath Rocks update for 08 Apr

Status:
Green/Open

Rode on Easter Friday.
- Trail to Hanging Rock is fine.
Some large puddles early on, before gate, but there are by-pass single trails.
Couple of steeper sections are rocky due to rain erosion, so sight your landings etc. Otherwise it's all good fun.

- Trail joining Ridgewell Rd to Godson Ave (ie fire trail that joins Hanging Rock track to Anvil Rock track) is still a bit wet and rocky (watch for trailbikes and 4wd).

- Trail from Godson Ave to Anvil Rock is dry, graded, boring and actually dusty (+ watch for cars).

The Oaks update for 08 Apr

Area:
The Oaks
Status:
Green/Open

Rode The Oaks today. All good!

Just one thing, to the people (not necessarily riders or people on this site) who leave rubbish all through the National Park... STOP IT! Chip packets, Coke bottles, sandwich bags... there was a lot of rubbish on the main fire trail today. Poor form!
