Lane Cove National Park update for 23 Feb

Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Rode through from Gloucester Ave to the Belinda Cres exit of the Devlins Ck track. This place still has plenty of water about. Didn't do the sniggle at the top of Devlin's because it looked underwater and I'd had enough mud by then. Still a tricky lip on the new causeway on Devlins as you approach going up the creek. Large tree blocking the just past the T junction where the Robin Ave trail joins in, but it's not in a dangerous spot.

Knapsack Reserve update for 23 Feb

Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Took the dogs for a ride last night. Firetrail is fine with small wet patches down near both lookouts. Singletrail on the western side of the firtrail is fine and parts of the singletrail on the eastern side is good, however the lower parts are still a bit wet so im saying amber with green by Saturday.

Manly Dam update for 22 Feb

Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

I did a lap this afternoon.

There is a lot of standing water and several small streams flowing down the single track sections. Where this water is being ridden through is starting to become mud and a few bog sections have started.

Other sections are dry and officially the track is "open" so I'm marking it "amber/some issues" because it is not possible to ride the Dam without going through a fair amount of water and mud. You bike will be making grinding noises by the end of the lap.

Chainring shifting issues - best option?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I was having some shifting problems a while back going from middle to inner chain ring (the shift would be very slow or would have to be accompanied by a shift on the cassette to make the chain jump down). The LBS filed the teeth on the chainrings a little and this improved a lot. However, the problem has started to return. If I am in the middle ring and shift to the lower ring it will just rub on the deraileur cage until I shift up and down the cassette and then it will shift down the chainring.

Brake pads

Hi there,
Just want to know if anyone here has tried http://www.discobrakes.com break pads.
The price looks pretty good and they have freee shipping (I don't know if is just a special now).
In another note, can someone explain to me what are diffferences (besides price) between semi-metallic, ceramic, sintered, Kevlar, etc.. pads??

Sydney drivers at their best - incident this morning, Alfred St Milsons Point

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Morning All.
Had a rotten commuter ride this morning on the run to work through North Sydney and Milsons to the bridge. To the chap in the green shirt that went down near Lavender Miller Sts intersection, I hope your grazing is OK. But then...
