HMBA XC Round 2

With Round 1 washed out everybody was pretty keen for the first XC club race for the season.
Getting ready for pre race briefing, it was evident there was going to be some changes to some of the standard XC course for the race. All the rain in recent weeks had left some of the course a little boggy, plus a few new sections had been recently cut, in readiness for the National XC round in early March.

Yellomundee Regional Park update for 19 Feb

Status:
Red/Closed

Hi all,

Following the severe erosion damage that occured at Yellomundee in early February, we still recommend that you give this area the miss for a while. It really is in poor shape, with a lot of water still running down the trails (inspected Sunday 19 Feb).

Following consultation between NPWS and WSMTB, the following areas have been closed (and roped off):
- the area west of the fire road, under the transmission power lines. This included both Towers of Power, and V-ditch.
- the area north of Shaws Farm (tar) road. This includes the track down to the Trotting Track. Both bridges over Shaws Creed have been washed away.

It would be best if everyone just gave Yellomundee a rest until we are able to get in and do a heap of work. Planning for this is occurring - we have to consult NPWS.

Stay tuned - we will need lots of help.

thanks for your co-operation

Manly Dam update for 19 Feb

Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Green/Open

Id be happy to give it green. A few muddy bits - but the rest is pretty much dry. Due to the track being reopened - clearly a lot of traffic has gone through creating some slightly different lines.

New PB - obviously

Date:
19 Feb 12

First time around the dam on the 29er. Some traffic on the single track - hikers of all things! I dont think they will need a map to find a new set of undies... Could be up for something even quicker soon... I hope.

Tyre Choice & Rotorua

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hey all,

With health issues keeping me off the bike most of summer I'm just getting back on the steed and swapped out my Front tyre to a Kenda Nevegal, thinking that it would offer some good mud clearing attributes, though the thing is, since putting it on I have slid the front tyre out pretty much every ride. Now I'm a rider that stacks often but am thinking this is getting too much and never usually stack by sliding the front tyre out.

Pretty much the same as last week:

Dry and fast conditions, with only the occasional small corner puddles on the red loop single track .

Wanted: wanted: old 6 speed 700c wheel

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi Guys

After rather foolishly signing up for a 24hr solo MTB race I need to up my training a lot so I've moved my retro roadie Malvern Star onto the mag trainer. The original tyre destroyed itself in no time so I've got a new one and also a dedicated trainer tyre but rather than swap tyres all the time I'm looking for a spare wheel I can use.
