The Oaks update for 16 Jan

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Area:
The Oaks
Status:
Green/Open

All good with the Woodford, The Oaks, to Glenbrook via Bennett's Ridge trial as of today, Sunday the 16 of Jan. Took a quick break at Euroka and wondered where have all the kangaroo's gone? Me thinks there are greener pasturers further in the woods and away from the crazy tourists who arrive in their respective space capsules to take photo's and fly away to the next destination.

A great ride to burn of the excitment from yesterday's BMORC BBQ at Bunnings.

I know a pump track/skills park is an idea we can dream about. But to add to my dreaming, I finally found a video that shows the kind of skills park I'd also like to have alongside a pump track.

Rode here thursday Afternoon
Fantastic as always, User activity has picked up. Crossed paths with 5 other riders I dont think I have seen before. Also noticed recent tyre tracks on the Dirt Jumps. Plus the last landing had been altered.
Added to my ride with a loop around the laggon, had a little explore in Mt Sion Park found a nice downhill that didnt go anywhere (Wasnt to impressed with the bloke trail building with a lawn mower) couldnt find my way out onto Mitchell Pass as I know there is an access and finished up with a ride down behind Surveyor Abbot Dr (very nice)

Flat Top and the open road....

Flat top is at around the halfway point where the bush opens up and the ride gets more enjoyable and scenic.

The nice open terrain with some good climbs makes this area very enjoyable.

Lots of Climbing

The trail is recently graded so is quite smooth which makes the relatively steep climbs a little easier.

The Hurley Heights Fire Trail

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

When one gets to the end of Mt Hay Rd, the Hurley Heights Fire Trail veers to the right and looks kind of tempting. It however is pretty boring and very remote with no decent views... basically a few kms looking exactly like this.
