Snakes in Glenrock

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Just a word of warning, the warm weather has the local snakes out and about.
Wednesday afternoon I came across a 1.5m black snake and this morning a brown snake.
Both laying across the trail, both just avoided.

Probaby need to put an emergency bandage in the backpack just incase.

Green, green, green.
Went for a lap this morning and even the wet bits are dry.

The new trailwork is sensational. Well done guys.

Unbelievable that it has recovered so well. Obviously there are puddles here and there but 99% of the tracks are not taking marks from tyres. I missed shaft expecting it to be wet and went straight down onto the Fireroads , but everything around gunclub was good except for some mud and a puddle on the mud jumps, dipper was dry, Kenny's was dry except for around 5 puddles that catch water

The new work challenged my brain - so much more than I expected- pretty damn excellent from the guys who did it

Just got back from a lazy loop. A lot of it is Green, some of it Amber, and only a few puddles here and there. Probably all Green by tomorrow if the rain stays away tonight.

Also saw the biggest Red Bellied Black I have ever seen, pushing 5 feet long and as think as my wrist. Down near the shit farm just around the corner from the access road. So glad wasn't 20 seconds earlier!

A quick check sees the trails getting quite wet on the surface.
It rained here early this morning and now been pretty heavy since 2, so adding up.

Can only hope it passes just as quickly before it soaks too much.

Jesmond Park/John Hunter Hospital Hill update for 07 Oct

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Red/Closed

Hi guys,

Just a quick one to tell you that there will be back burning in the Jesmond park area on the 10th of October.

Also after recent back burning up underneath where Newcastle Private Hospital is there are clear fire roads worth exploring and really nicely sloped hillside ripe for trail building that is clear. You could drop in from the Car Park at Possum Place childcare and end up on the service trail for the power lines. End up back at the Electricity station for a paved return to the top of the hill. Just saying.
