This is just a fun ride, good chance for people who have not done it before to join in.
Mid week ride @ Menai
By the sports field on Old Illawarra Road, Barden Ridge.
Plan on riding for an hour and a half (seems to turn in to two hours) on the easier trails and I won’t be venturing near the free ride areas, DH, etc. However, it can still be tricky in sections, and some of the climbs and rock gardens can catch you out if you're not careful, but that adds to the fun.
Pace and where we ride will be determined by who turns up, but one things certain, reasonable night riding skills will be needed.
Hope to see a few of you there.
Chris
Winter fun @ Ourimbah
North End of Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. There's a large-ish parking area here, just off the main sealed road. There is also a smaller parking area a little further (400m or so from the road) where the trail splits - this second area is the usual meeting point. If you end up driving up a steep hill you've gone too far.
Time to catch up with our friends from the central coast.
Hopefully the winter sun will be shining and a great day out can be had by all. As it's winter no point showing up too early. Remember to bring some snacks for lunch
Personally I'll be hitting the XC course for a few laps, but don't let that stop those of the DH persuasion coming to say hello and shuttle a few.
See you there!
Mid week ride @ Menai
By the sports field on Old Illawarra Road, Barden Ridge.
Last weeks ride was cancelled at last minute due to the heavy rain, so keen to get out this Wednesday.
Plan on riding for an hour and a half on the easier trails and I won’t be venturing near the free ride areas, DH, etc. However, it can still be tricky in sections though, but that adds to the fun.
Pace and where we ride will be determined by who turns up, but one things certain, reasonable night riding skills will be needed.
Red Hill - Casual loop
Red Hill Reserve car park, off Lady Penryhn Drive, Beacon Hill. Another option is to ride over here from Oxford Falls.
This will be the standard Red Hill loop that we normally do; starting from the usual meeting point, head over to the down hill track, back up the 4wd track to the top, rim ride, drop zone and whatever else we find whilst there.
This will be an easy paced, social type ride so don't worry about being slow or having to walk sections.
Womerah/Great Northern Road - Cancelled
Wisemans Ferry - by the East ferry crossing (turn right bottom of the hill). There is a good parking area by the kiosk here.
Meet at main Ferry on the Northern side as parking is easier. Cross the river at the West ferry on River Road. From there it is +- 5km of tar to the start of Womerah range. This is the last part of the Dirtworks race with quite a bit of climbing - from 40m elevation to 315m with a lot of up and down in between. Down Jack's track to St Albans and then along Settlers Road to Shepherd's Gully. Anybody that's had enough by this stage can cut the ride short at this point. Up Shepherd's to Great Northern, down Western Commission for a total of +- 68km.
El Rancho Relaxo Training ride at Stromlo
Uriarra Road, just up from the Uriarra Road/Coppins Crossing Road turnoff.
This ride is for the resurrected team El Rancho Relaxo to meet and greet the wonderful trails of Stromlo before the Scott 24 in October but a few more are welcome also . There are six newly marked trails here so not sure of the endurance required to do all six , and in fact if we are able to complete them all, but the plan would be to make the most of the day and have a good look around here without the crowds that will arrive in October .
Another option would be to break up the day and head out to Sparrow Hill after a good feed somewhere along the way
Manly Dam Pootle About - CANCELLED Too Wet :-(
King Street (near corner with Arana Street), Manly Vale. You know - outside Manly Hydraulics Lab.
After 5 weeks off the bike I'm itching to get back on the saddle! I can't be a*sed to go to Appin so will reaquaint myself with the local trail and see how much it has changed in the last few months.
Will aim to do 2, possibly 3 laps.
All welcome
Majura Pines Ride during the 2009 MOUNTAIN BIKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP - Stromlo Forest Park
Majura Pine Forest, off Majura Road.
There might be a rider limit but there is NO speed limit! Come show your speed, breathtaking balancing acts and jumping tricks on the red dirt of Majura Pines.
Heading Down to watch the World Cup at Stromlo on Friday 4th September and leaving Sunday after the presentations. There was plenty of rain last year and this year there might be plenty more! But that shouldn't scare you! Get that heart, legs and bike prepared for an amazing weekend of cycling, racing and anything else you fancy.
Another mid week ride @ Menai

Last nights ride was so enjoyable, I’ve decided to do it again next week.
