A Few Good Laps...Damly Man Style...
King Street (near corner with Arana Street), Manly Vale. You know - outside Manly Hydraulics Lab.
So...Need to go or a ride this weekend, Sat arvo has turned out way too hot so Sunday Morning at the Dam it is...
Bit of a cruise, not super fast, not super slow, see how the mood takes me (and how many beers I get through this evening )
Probably just 2 laps, would be good to have some company - not just me & the ipod!!
come on, you know you want to...
Wiseman's Ferry ride.
Wisemans Ferry - by the East ferry crossing. Park in front of the kiosk in Wiseman's Ferry Park.
65-70k (approx).
Ride from the ferry up Western Commission Track (WCT) to its junction with the Great North Road (GNR).
Turn right until we hit the junction of GNR / Donny's Track.
Take Donny's for a 15k (may be 20 - Bluray has the map!) loop back to Ten Mile Hollow, then back along the GNR all the way to, and down, Shepherd's Gully.
9k's along the gravel to completely finish us off followed by the obligatory VERY dodgy pie at the greasy spoon (kiosk). Ian, are you still alive mate?
Manly Dam Afternoon Laps
King Street (near corner with Arana Street), Manly Vale. You know - outside Manly Hydraulics Lab.
Social ride around the Dam for a couple of laps. I've never been there before and Anke is practising riding with cleats so the mood should be quite relaxed.
Oaks Up and Back Twilight Ride
Glenbrook station carpark.
With this 24hr thing on the 14th and my current state of panic about my roid boy team I am planning to ride the Oaks up and back at twilight on Saturday 7th at about 6pm (like Paul did at Christmas). I am very hopeful that someone else will come along since I don’t really want to ride it on my own and would probably get lost, even though as we all know it’s an easy trail to find…
Australia Day at Menai
By the sports field on Old Illawarra Road, Barden Ridge.
The start time may be early but everyone's keen to rise early and greet the day, right?
Setting off early to beat the heat, I'll lead us through some of my favourite sections of this increasingly popular trail system.
Everyone is welcome yet I've set a limit to avoid congestion and to prevent losing those who aren't familiar with the area. For those less experienced, some sections are pretty awkward but the most is good, solid and absolutely enjoyable riding.
We could very well be back at the cars by 10 so everyone can then go about their regular Australia Day. Wave that flag!
social oxford falls night ride
Morgan Road, Belrose. At the second 90 degree right hand bend in the road. There's an area just before you can park and a firetrail heading off to the left.
After Manly Dam the other night we thought maybe Oxford Falls was due for a visit (except Buck who is still keen on Red Hill!)
Anyway, social Oxford Falls ride, all legal trails NO downhill track if I can help it... lol
Make sure you bring a beer or two - maybe we could do as we used to and have our beer on the track at sunset.. how nice!
MEEEE
Manly Dam - Easy riding
King Street (near corner with Arana Street), Manly Vale. You know - outside Manly Hydraulics Lab.
I'm new so nothing hardcore for me yet, I have only done the track once before. So anyone is up for an easy, social ride, let's go!
Sunday: NoBMoB Family Ride @ Terrey Hills !
We are meeting at the Japanese School, off Booralie Road - follow Echunga Road to the roundabout at the end. You'll see the cars + bikes there. A dirt track starts from here and heads off to the right.
FIRST NoBMoB Family Ride (and Newbies) for the year!
Our 3 boys (8, 10, 11 y.o.) and I will ride the Terrey Hills / Perimeter trail on Sunday morning...interested in joining?
Approximately 1.5 hrs on an easy, mainly flat fire trail. We'll stop at the first (flat rock) lookout. Suitable for beginners on normal kids bikes. Newbies of all ages are welcome, too.
Weather looks good - no rain, not too hot. 24 degrees. Bring water (not Gatorade) and some fruit - and join the fun!
Ourimbah Holiday Special
North End of Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. There's a large-ish parking area here, just off the main sealed road. There is also a smaller parking area a little further (400m or so from the road) where the trail splits - this second area is the usual meeting point. If you end up driving up a steep hill you've gone too far.
To celebrate 1 week to go before the kids go back to school (or before those lousy teachers go on strike) just a couple of cruisy laps in the morning to test out Colt's new steed.... providing it hasn't been nicked again!
Very relaxed pace.
The Oaks noob ride
Glenbrook station carpark.
Planning on taking a work colleague up to do The Oaks ride. This will be very easy paced and suitable for less experienced or less fit riders who are wanting to "do the oaks". All are welcome of course.
We catch the train from Glenbrook (8:23) up to Woodford (8:54)and ride back to the carpark. Train ticket is required so bring a few $$$.
It's approx 30Km of mostly fire trail with an excellent single trail at the end and of course a very very testing hill riding out back to the car park.
Bring plently of water, sunscreen, spares and food to get through.
