Speed biking on snow at 210 km/h

Austria's Markus Stoeckl, 33, set a new world record at the weekend for series mountain bikes on a renovated high-speed La Parva run in the Chile's Alps when he hit a speed of 210.4 km/h (130.7 mph). He shattered an eight-year-old record by an incredible 23 km/h (14 mph).

Silly Competitions

... once a year around 90 mentalists gather at the base of fargo street in los angeles for the fargo street hill climb. They then attempt to scale the hill on a bicycle as many times as humanly possible in a day.

... this year the winner was a guy called Steve Gilmore and he managed it 92 times, in the process climbing around 14′000ft in only 15 miles.

And you thought this year's Coffs was bad? Eye-wink

Anyway any tips?

Rear Shock Issue

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi Guys/Girls, First time poster, long time reader.

Could anyone help me with the following issue in regards to my rear shock Rock Shox MC 3.1 which has started to squeak quite loudly in the first 1-2 mm of travel.

I've cleaned the outer of the rear shock and tried taking out all the air pressure, inverting the bike and cycling the rear shock a couple of times and that removed the squeak (i think the cycling of the shock travel a couple of times has rebathed the internals with shock oil).

Write and write some more

There seems to be little action here, so thought I should mention a bit of news from a while back.

Earlier this year I wrote to NSW NPWS regarding their maps of Ku-ring-gai and Garigal National Parks. I mentioned that these maps didn't show many trails that one can ride with the NPWS blessing. I explained how there were loads of fire trails in these parks that I knew were wide open roads that one could easily drive down, and ask if that's the case how come riding isn't permitted there.

Bike carrier

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Ladies & Gents,

I'll have to buy a bike carrier (hoping that my dear wife will join now that we have successfully procured a baby seat for my bike).
I am looking for a specific type (if I can get it): it should go into the tow bar hitch, and should support the wheels rather than suspending the bikes from a top mount. 2, better 3 bikes capacity.

I noticed something like that on the back of a white pickup; not sure who it belongs to but I think the gent joined one of the night rides, too.

Many thanks in advance for hints re who manufactures such a carrier, and where to buy.

Cheers

In June I bought a trek top fuel 9.8 from the above shop, it is carbon fibre and the cable to the back shock gouged the main frame of the bike by 3mm deep.

Oh the chain, the chain

Has anyone ever experienced any shifting problems with an HG93 chain? I recently swapped the running gear (except derailleurs) from one bike to another recently purchased (2nd hand), including my HG93 chain. All the shifting problems I had with my previous bike have been transferred to my current bike. I only swapped a new XT cassette and cogs + the chain. Talking to Tien, he said he had similar problems that were solved when he replaced his 93 chain with another brand. I bought a few of these chains from torp 7 for $20 and don't want to buy another chain unless I have to.

Kona Dawg stolen at terry hills.

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

One of our original nobmob riders Paul B. son had his Kona Dawg 2003 stolen on the weekend from terry Hills shops. Now his son is 11 and rides with the nobmnob orginals frequently. He is the only 11 year old i have witnessed get through nursery rymes at morgann road and manly dam without getting off the bike. A real up and coming super mountain bike rider infact he cracked every trail with us down the face of falls creek last easter. Now this bike was given to him for his birthday and has further sentimental affect as it was originally mine. Paul bought it from me and gave it to his son.
