The Oaks Maintenence Day?
So... we met a ranger just as we were finishing The Oaks yesterday. Right after the technical section of the sniggle that leads back to the road.
We had a small chat and the ranger was saying how they know that part of the trail is getting quiet badly eroded and needs some work. Apparently there's a new staff member coming along in the next couple of weeks who will be looking after this. I told the dude about and have spoken to Terracare.

Campsite near Ourimbah
Anyone got any suggestions of a campsite near the Ourimbah trails? (that isn't a caravan park!!!!)
A toilet block and running water are essential and also dog friendly is preferable so the 4 legged beasts can have a holiday too. Any recommendataions?

Bike part clearance
Hi there
Time to clean out the garage of old bike parts. Have a look below for the pics:
http://picasaweb.google.com/choi.ben/BikeParts
I have one pair of Hayes Sole hydraulic disc brakes. Comes pre-bled and with 6" rotors. Came off my Giant Alias. Has about 600km of wear on them. I upgraded to Shimano Deore LX brakes. Take them for $90 for the lot. I'll throw in some spare pads that have never been used yet (if i can find them!) SOLD

nobmob chess club
this is probably obvious to everyone but me, but don't go to a medical centre for an x-ray after a bad stack. they send the x-rays away to be reported on without having the injury in front of them. they gave me completely the wrong diagnosis and had me moving my arm as much as possible and booked in for a cortisone injection.

rear light found on red hill downhill..
found a rear light just past the entrance to the red hill downhill the other week (sorry tardy!) message me if its yours and ill hook ya up.. i know there cheap but still, it might be an heirloom light from your dead granny or something

Pump Found at Manly Dam today (10/10/07)
Hey all,
New to Australia and new to MTBing, made my way to Manly Dam, nearly died from exhaustion and am now safely at home studying on how to improve.
On route, (Very close to the Highway section) i found a RavX Master X Mini pump. I was only passed by one guy and i would guess it was his as it was pretty obvious.
Anyway, it's a long shot but if you're reading this, then give us a shout!
Cheers

Bragging
The WSMTB club championship race was on the weekend and one of NoBMoBs youngest- Mitchell the pocket rocket Evans showed the field the way, the lead changed several times in a very close race, and Mitchell had to dig deep to take the win by about 30 metres, he also took the U13's championship series with 1180 points.

Creaky Cranks
Hey, probably a fairly basic question but any help would be appreciated.
I noticed today that as I was riding, especially when putting more pressure on the pedals, the cranks seemed to be making a creaking noise that was gradually getting worse.
Do they just need tightening with an abnormally large sized allen key that doesn't exist in Dad's toolbox? Or is there something completely different that could be wrong.
Might not even be anything, but its good to know how to stop these things and hopefully have nothing fall off...

Great work by Forests NSW
At Wingello yesterday we happened to bump into a ranger and have a chat about some of the trail building they have been doing.
Now, Wingello is a state forest, not national park so this only goes for their areas, but...
The ranger said that they were more than happy to build lots more trail in here. What has been done so far was very nice (I'm talking about the sniggle we rode that seems to have been put in for WWS this year) so one could only hope for miles more of the same.

**STOLEN BIKE** Scott Hi Octane
Hi Guys
This is not how I hoped my first post on the site would turn out but anyway
I went down to my garage in Harbord this morning to find it unlocked and my downhill bike gone. Surprisingly nothing else was touched including my partner and I's XC bikes (both much lower value than this bike), surfboard and power tools which makes me think whoever it was knew what they were looking for. Recently I had been tuning the bike up and cycling around the block checking adjustments etc.

Hello
Hi everyone my names Matt
Just thought i'd introduce myself. I intend to go on one of your rides as i finally got round to getting a decent(by my standards, probably not yours) bike (Trek 6300) and would like to go riding however finding people to go with has always been a problem in my somewhat limited experience.
A bit about myself im 19 and live in Terrey Hills. I attend UNI and work part time.
From what i gather from reading the site i simply turn up on a schedualed event? correct?
Anyway looking forward to haveing a ride soon. Maybe tommorrow, though not sure.

Andy I quit
Andy I'm quitting the competition on who can injure themselves the most.
I'm ahead on broken bones
Andy, you're ahead on blood and slong damage
Gazza, you got the stitches cateGORY sewn up dude.

In search of a longer stem, for the bike
I'm looking for a longer stem than I currently have and am hoping someone out there has a spare they can lend me for a couple of weeks so I can see how it feels before I go off spending money on one.
So heres what I am after in an ideal world
1 1/8 steerer
25.4 bar
approx 6 degree slope
120 or 130 mm long
If you have something like this sitting around your spare parts box and are happy to lend it too me for a couple of weeks plese PM me.
Any variations on slope or length will be good as long as it is longer than 100mm.
Cheers

windtrainer needed
Hello!
I need to buy a wind trainer and was wondering if anybody can give me a recommendation for a decent one that doesn't cost a fortune? Or maybe somebody has one and wants to sell it?
Any advice would be great!
Cheers,
Caro

MTB Skills
Hello all,
Does anyone know of any groups/organisations where you can learn Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced MTB skills? Preferably in or near Sydney.
I know the best practice is time in the saddle but I certainly have picked up a few bad habits (like crashing) on the way,
I did a training course some time ago in the UK it really helped my confidence and let me understand the basics. I would like to hone my skill and learn how to hit the bigger jumps, gaps etc without the damage to my ego and bike.
Cheers
JJ

Broken 2008 GT Brand New!
I finally upgraded my Apollo Ascension to a 2008 GT Avalanche 1 tonight. Got it home and did 2 laps in the backyard to feel it out. It had a click sound thru the gears and then "Bang", the rear derailer holder snapped in two (forged aluminium/steel? - Broken). It looks like the chain wasnt set up right and the holder is definitely not up to grade. Lucky I wasnt half way out at Manly Dam or Cascades. Anyway back to the shop tomorrow - bugger as I was going out tomorrow at 6:30am, which I still will on the Apollo. These things happen!!!
