Something to crow about.

Is there any other's out there that enjoy bird watching (and I don't mean the Jessica Alba type) when riding or at other times?

I think I've been doing it for about 10 years. We have a fantastic array of different types of birds here on the Northern Beaches. It's really a great place to be. And now that summer has arrived, I get to see all the migratory birds such as Kingfishers, Koels, and Cuckoos again!!

My stupidity makes for your lucky day

Ok so I should have checked things before I go and order toys but I didn't and now one of you lucky buggers (or maybe beggers) is in for a bargain.

I am sitting here looking at a brand new, still in its box, hell still in its plastic bag in its box, Shimano XTR M970 top swing front derailleur (should have been a conventional swing, DOH)

Anyway its up for grabs at what it cost me and most of you know that will be a bargain.

Red Hill on Sunday??

Hi all,

After surviving Ourimbah on Saturday, would anyone else be interested in some continued technical riding at Red Hill on Sunday? It would be for an early start, say about 8:00 a.m? I will post it if people are interested.

Love to hear some consensus here!! Smiling

Looking for some xmas gifts for my bike.

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Looking for some xmas gifts for my bike. Bike is a Stumpy. Thinking seat post, stem and bars.
Thompson post for $130 on Torp 7 seems good, but not sure if I need a straight post or with a backsweep. I'm guessing straight, and 367mm long (or 330mm?)
Bars and stem is a cosmetic upgrade as I have no prob with current gear.
But need to know how long the stem is on the Stumpy as this seems a good length. Or could I go a little shorter?
For bars, anyone familiar with the TruVativ team carbon bars on Torp 7 for about $100? Does a degree change in the upsweep make much difference?

I have a question to ask if you have. Please let me know and we can chat off line.

Failing that anyone got one on one of their bikes I would be greatful to hear from you as well.

Thanks in advance

Looking for a shorter stem

Looking for something like the stocker unit on the stumpjumper at around the 50mm.
Bars are the small 25mm type, so the stumpy unit wont work.
Could try the O/S stem but would need O/S bars as well.

Am trying a few things to make my other bike work for the girlfriend.
I'll be at the bbq ride at the weekend...

Wheelbarrow Ridge Road?

This looks like a bit of fun, anyone game?

http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/653877

It's up near Wisemans Ferry, although you would be driving up to Lower Portland via Windsor most likely. Looks like a nice training ride for 100K events. Smiling

Wed 12 Nov night ride

Anyone up for a night ride on Wednesday? If no one posts one up I will probably do Cascades for a change. Anyone up for a hill climb or two (or three!)?

Weather may also be a factor at this stage.

Wanted! Junior Riders (especially U17 & U19)

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Manly Warringah MTB are looking to field a number of teams in the Club Team Relay at the National Championships (http://www.mtbnationals.com.au) in January. Unfortunately while we have quite a few strong Elite riders, more fast old blokes than you can poke a stick at and a number of capable women we find ourselves short a few Junior riders to field a couple of our teams

Newbie to site!

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi Everyone,

My names is steve, am as per the suject heading am new to the site, new to syd, and pretty new to mountian biking. Orginally from melbourne and done lots of road biking, however after seeing the narrow roads, and the non existence(inner city at least) of bike lanes, am not taking my life in my own hands when riding out there. Alas, have always been interested in Mountain bikeing, however, dues to the costs of both sports, could only choose one.

Rides in Tasmania?

Hi NOBMOBers.. I am heading down to Tassie for a holiday for New Years and a week or so afterwards. As I am driving and camping I will take my bike... Can anyone shed some light on good a good couple of rides I can do whilst I am down there?

I don't really have an itinerary, just Hobart until the 2nd - then I am free to go where ever.. So almost all options are open.

Appreciate your input

Mona Vale DH

Hi Guys, Im new to the site,

I have been invited to go on a ride this Sunday with a few guys at the Mona Vale DH, just past the Bahi Temple and it apparently ends up at a girls high school. Do any of you know this track? Due to wife issues i might not be able to do it this Sunday and it sounds like a good place to start, having not done any Downhill before. So i would be keen to do it with some people who know it.

Might come along for a ride at Manly Dam tomorrow, where I can hopefully meet some of you.

Christine, it's obviously been a while since you have ridden

that section of trail, or maybe your sense of smell / taste has been tainted by having 2 horses couped up on your little block of "paradise" for so long that you can niether smell nor taste the hint of horse sh%t in that water, that as Rob quite correctly points out, flows across the land uphill from the rock ledge. Guess what Blondie, that land is a horse paddock, go figure

Perisher DH?
