Chairlifted official DH for Mount Keira!

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Not sure if this has been posted before, did a quick search and nothing came up

http://www.illawarramercury.com.au/s...le-car/?c...

"A gondola connecting the Wollongong escarpment to the beach is the centrepiece of a grand plan to transform Mount Keira into an adventure playground.

The proposal, put forward by Destination Wollongong, aims to revitalise the under-utilised mountain and encourage people to visit the region by capitalising on growing interest in adventure tourism.

Gun Club track

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Can who ever has been removing vegetation and straightlining the corners at the top of the Gun Club track please stop.

The Straight lines are lame and unnecessary. There are some delicate ground orchids that grow alongside the trail so it gets a bit of scrutiny and the unnecessary work will reflect bad on the club even though I doubt it was club members who did it.

Any way pass the word. Removing vegetation on any of the trails on Hassans walls is not on.

Maintain the trails we have rather than putting in new ones.

Aldi specials you might be interested in

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Was at Aldi Hornsby this morning to grab some of their cheap compression pants, tights and tops that are part of this weeks special and noticed several other items that I thought might interest some people. Yes, it is Aldi so no, it isn't the trendiest or the most sophisticated, but..... it usually does what it says on the tin and its cheap enough that it's worth a gamble from time to time.

Centenary Trail Canberra

Hey there,

Has anyone ridden the Centenary Trail down in Canberra? I'm doing some house sitting down there next week and thought I might give it a go. I know it's not hardcore mountain biking, however, from what I have read it does sound like an interesting ride.

Cheers

Advice for new XC forks

Hey,

I am new to the site, new to Perth in fact and have just decided to get back into some mountain biking after being out of it for a year or so. I have just put a Giant Talon 4 on lay away. Unfortunately these only come with some Santour XCT forks and I am hoping to get myself some new ones to put on when I pick up my bike in the next few weeks!

Which Jindabyne Trails

I'm off to Jindabyne next week for 2 nights to take the kids to snow. Not going to try to snowboard this time so I'm going to bring my bike along. I should be able to squeeze in 2 rides at least, weather permitting.

Which trails should I or can I ride while over there, I've read a few reports here and other sites, and it sounds like the Tyrolean village trails and Lake Crackenback are the ones to go to. Bungarra looks good but it looks like they are closed during winter and on weekdays.

Any other recommendation ?

How and what do I need to remove bb71

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

After raceing at collie then cleaning my bike went to ride this morning to find the cranks very hard to turn over

After about 50 meters they were free again so I'm thinking mud or water has gotten in the bottom bracket

Bike is a Scott scale with a bb71

Wanting to learn and do myself what tools do I need to remove replace the bottom bracket and once out can you regrease or is it a through away item

Thanks

Cheap CREE LED lights from Kogan?

Kogan are selling a 1200 lumen CREE led headlamp (no handlebar mount)for $35. Not the latest state of the art however $35 for around 1200 lumens seems like fair value if the quality is ok and the design looks very familiar to several others out there in the marketplace. could be a good cheap commuter light. Anyone have any experience with these units?

Problem with fork?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi there

I need some help. I recently had an issue where my dust wiper would pop up when I cycled the fork. To the fork to LBS and they sent it to SRAM to fix. They have apparently changed the air damper? Or something like that. Now I haven't ridden it yet but the wiper is not coming off.

Not again!

Not wanting to spark a debate but after the manufacturers push to get everyone on 29ers and now "forget them you need a 650b" approach I came across this clip. I'm slightly biased being a 26inch fan but I seriously couldn't see a 29er being this agile, quick and fun.

I'm sure many will comment and eyes will roll but forget the debate and just admire the 26 for it's true brilliance that got us all hooked on this awesome sport.

'08 Rockshox Totem 'topping out' and home servicing

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hi guys, I bought an 08 Reign recently which came with Totems, when I pull up on the bars they go CRACK when they hit the top of their stroke and send a significant jarring through the bars. I've done a bit of googling and it appears they are not supposed to do this. SRAM do rebuild videos and they talk about top out springs and stuff so it appears there is a mechanism to counteract this, I guess mine isn't working properly.

Anyone use these pedals because they have dodgy knees? I have one very dodgy knee and have been using spds and have been recently struggling a bit and am wondering if a set of these pedals might be a good investment. If so which model?

BC Bike Race 2015

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Well I got up at some ungodly hour this morning in an attempt to get an early bird registration to the race. I failed.

Despite completing the required info in 11 minutes all of the A, B and C early birds were gone... Astounding.

So a couple of hundred bucks poorer than I budgeted for I hit the register button anyway.

BB30 / PF30 Compatibility

I'm considering a custom bike build but can't make sense of the bottom bracket situation. I understand the different types but can't work out if the crank arms are compatible with all BB30 and PF30's? Reason I ask is I can't find a PF30 specific crank. All cranks seem to be BB or GXP (I figure the GXP needs a GXP BB).

I won't be putting the BB in myself but still need to know which cranks to buy... If I can get a custom build within budget (which is gonna be hard).
