Glenbrook Weir

I'm looking at doing an Oaks up-and-back Sunday. Forecast is for a little damp weather between now and the weekend. I'm just wondering what locals views are on whether the weir will be passable.

I don't plan on buying a ford but the ad certainly increased my interest of riding trails in Tasmania one day.

Di2 XTR officially released

Looks like you can have 1, 2 or 3 x 10, and sequential shifting off the one shifter where it moves up and down across however many front rings you have, and up or down on the rear as required to get the next ratio. Or you can still have both shifters if you want.

Fox Fork Kashima Coat Repairs

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

So the Goat Farm hoodoo has struck again. Managed to drop the bike on a rocky up hill climb with the result being that I've put a nice little scratch in the Kashima coat. Does anyone know if there's anything that can be done to fix it?
Cheers

What is best first race to aim for?

Greetings,

New to the sport but rapidly becoming addicted to the point that, even though it's only very early days, I am keen to participate in an event in the foreseeable future.

My goal would only be to complete not compete, then working up distances over time.

I would welcome any advice or opinions on what events might be most suitable for a novice such as myself.

Thanks!

New wheel - recommendations please!

Having recently toasted my rear wheel, I'm looking to invest in a new set of rims so I'm looking for recommendations for 29" that I can run tubeless and will also put up with a slightly clumsy 95kg rider! Durability over light weight is probably my priority.

Also interested to know where you get your wheels built as I lack the skills to transfer my existing hubs etc over.

Thanks

Just finished building this up. Had a bit of a play in the back lane and the park at the end of the lane and first impressions are great, looking forward to hitting the dirt Sunday morning. I'll get some decent pics then too (with clean wheels!).

We do not condone the use of illegal trails/riding. Perhaps this can help police the users who ride closed trails when wet, etc...

Hi all, just wondering if anyone out there knows if a 11 speed cassette will fit on a 10 speed wheel?
My wheels are Easton haven.
Thanks for any input.

Richie Porte pays it forward

A good story about making a contribution. Some interesting takeouts about development opportunities for mountain bikers in there too.

Woodford to Glenbrook Classic 2014: 25 km Blue Mountains

Join the CareFlight Woodford to Glenbrook Classic 2014 and run or ride the Oaks Fire Trail through the beautiful Blue Mountains National Park from the town of Woodford down to the Euroka Clearing near Glenbrook.

Covering 25km of undulating bushland, the trail is incredibly scenic and a must for keen mountain bikers and trail runners. Participants are supported the full length of the track by Rural Fire Service crews stationed along the way, providing First Aid and drinks. A CareFlight doctor and St John Ambulance volunteers will also be in support.

Changing rear shock

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hi there,
Pretty new to this, I have a cannondale prophet and my rear shock is bottomed out just sitting on it
I am a big guy, 6"3 and 117kg. When I get out of the saddle to put the power down it just bounces around.
I have taken it to my local bike shop to gas but he reckons it's gassed out.
I can't find a replacement HD or coil over replacement.
Any ideas other than hard tail?

Cheers
Robbie

Oaks Singletrack Feedback

Feed back can be worth more than Gold.

At today's Rake & Ride, we where handed out slips of paper with an email asking for feedback. This is extremely important!!!

Several staff are very keen to build more Mountain bike trails as they can see the multiple of benefits mountain biking brings but they need 2 things. Convincing the Powers that be and funding. One of the most powerful weapons in achieving both of these is feedback.

Here are some suggestions you may like to talk about.

Did you like the new trail?

  • What did and/or didn't you like about the new trail?
