NSWMTB?
I was unaware that a lot of this sites stuff (forum talk/trail status) is mirrored at NSWMTB?
interesting?
Mobile access?
Hey Rob
I prolly spend 70%+ of my NoBMoB access via my iPhone. Problem is though is the site isn't very mobile friendly. Any plan to support mobile access? Is it a simple CSS switch? I don't really know much about Drupal.
Got any mobile browser stats for the site?
Cheers
Phil
EDIT: When I say unfriendly, im mainly refering more to the fixed width nature of the comments form field. Tis a tad on the wide side.
Event Entry Trading... use the Classifieds, Luke
We've noticed an increasing amount of event entries for trade/sale/wanted recently. Sooooo....
... just a gentle reminder that it you want to trade anything - yes, including event entries, please post in classifieds.
Why? Well - so the forum for event discussion doesn't get clogged up with trading, and classifieds are specifically designed to be quickly withdrawn when the item is no longer for trade/sale/wanted (if you're logged in, simply click the 'Click to withdraw' link that appears top of you ad.).
Images in classifieds
Just now I've added the ability to allow classified posters to include images of their items. Probably long overdue, sorry for the delay
Eg, those sexy SLR wheels:
Classified listings now feature thumbs if the poster makes use of this feature:
It should be pretty self explanatory how this works (click 'Browse', click 'Upload'... repeat until done) but as usual, shout out with any issues you see.

Hot Laps - Suggestion
Do you think it would be a good idea to have a field in the Hot Laps section where the type/model/etc of bike can be indicated?
I'd like to know what hot laps are done on what bikes. I think it would be an interesting comparison.

OT: Interview with a scammer - stay safe online
I often advise people never to include contact details (phone or email) in forum posts, but some do anyhow. Aside from annoying spam email (sent to addresses harvested by 'bots'), scammers trawl forums for personal details for fraud and phishing.
Have a read of this series of interviews with an ex-scammer from Nigeria, it's a look into this seedy world:
Windows Mobile
This is a request for a Windows Mobile compatible version of this web site!
The standard version does not display well on my Windows Mobile device
Any chance we can get a 'mobile' optimised version of this web site?
FYI I'm using an HTC device running Win Mobile v6.1 or v6.5 and Internet Explorer.
cheers

Road site out in the open
As some of you will know, there are a number of riders in our midst that enjoy riding on the road. A while back we created the tongue-in-cheek named 'scummers' group to cater for these people but this was little known and hard to find if you didn't know about it.
Enter road.nobmob.com. This is a public site for all the road related content and as such should be easier to find. On the plus side for some poor misguided souls who only like to ride on the road, use of this site only shows road related stuff in much the same way use of nobmob.com only shows MTB related stuff.
That is... unless one edits their profile and selects to see content from one place when actually using another. Eg. if you select to always see content from road.nobmob.com you don't actually ever have to login there to see what's going on - that content will show up for you on nobmob.com. This is akin the the way the 'scummers' group worked and I've set that option for everyone in that group so you really shouldn't see any difference at all.
So... long story short... loads of work for apparently no change. I'm sure there was a good reason for doing this though... watch this space
Posting Claissifid Adds
Just wondering how long does it generally take of a classified to be posted on the sit after it has been submitted? I did one last night and am not sure if I made a mistake and that's why it hasn't appeared or if it just takes time to be posted.
Better Image Navigation
Had a bit of time to kill just now and have made some improvements to image navigation.
Basically, added some right/left arrows and AJAXified them so one can scroll through the thumbs before selecting one to view in more detail. It works with or without Javascript (fallback to usual page loading), but really... what are you doing running a browser without it?
Also squashed the header a bit when viewing images... saves screen real estate.
You'll need the new CSS or this won't look very pretty - do a hard refresh (control-R usually).
