It's On
GNR
Wisemans Ferry - by the East ferry crossing (turn right bottom of the hill). There is a good parking area by the kiosk here.
I'm heading out to GNR Saturday morning with a couple of mates and any fellow NobMob people that are interested.
Aiming to leave Nthn Beaches around 7:30am.
The plan:
Go up Devines Hill (short and sharp but gets us to the top of the hill and the fun stuff quickly). Ride along Great North Road for an out-back, and going back down the hill via Shepherds Gully. Then a bit of road riding (9km, easy) back to the ferry.
See for an example that worked out to 33km total.
GNR Excursion
Wisemans Ferry - by the East ferry crossing (turn right bottom of the hill). There is a good parking area by the kiosk here.
Keen to get out for a longer ride this Sunday as part of prep for my first Dirtworks. It's a training ride for me but I won't be going very fast (because I am not as fit as most of you!).
Planned route is the same as taken with Daniel and Joe back in January, that is, out to ten mile hollow and then down Simpson's track and back up Donny's track, before heading back down over Clare's Bridge, back along the GNR to the top of Devine's Hill, and if feeling strong enough down Shepherd's Gully. Should work out at between 50 and 60ks:
The Big O Training Ride mk II
North End of Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. I think they prefer us to park up on the second clearing these days???
Starting some longer rides in preparation for the Dirtworks. Looking to knock out 5 laps with minimal stops but may settle for more or less. This ride is about building a little bit of endurance back up and getting the feel of the trails again on Shrek the Trek that hasn't been ridden since the Scott 24hr. Not too fussed on pace at the moment so more than happy for people to come and go as they please.
Terrey Hills Night Ride
Park opposite/beside Terrey Hills shops, corner Booralie Rd/Yulong Ave. Or in the small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.
Let's try that again...
The Mont is on in couple of weeks.
I haven't riden on dirt since that crash at Appin in January. I rode at Ourimbah on Saturday and it's clear more dirt is required quick smart!
Have just got back from couple week holiday.
Haven't used lights on the bike since... must be the Scott?
All this tells me it's time for a night ride at Terrey Hills to make sure the lights are still working.and make sure I can still ride on the dirt before going up to GNR
tour de menai
By the sports field on Old Illawarra Road, Barden Ridge.
easy pace with stops about 25 to 30 km have some fun on easy shore stuff, cover a few different areas
RNP Night ride
Usually Loftus Oval, Sutherland, just off the Princes Highway.
RNP for a change. Around the local tracks and up to heathcote and back.
ourimbah training ride
North End of Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. There's a large-ish parking area here, just off the main sealed road. There is also a smaller parking area a little further (400m or so from the road) where the trail splits - this second area is the usual meeting point. If you end up driving up a steep hill you've gone too far.
would like to ride two laps of the ccomtb course, with the possibilty of maybe stopping and re-riding a couple of sections i.e the drop off,and cornering in the sand pits, just to help with my racing, i only ride d grade so will not be a massively hectic pace.
cheers
