Build a bike....

If you were looking to build your own bike what are the best options and resources to complete this ?

At present I'd see the options as :

1) Buy a complete bike - expensive ?
2) Buy all the parts and have the LBS build it for you.
3) Buy the parts and build as much as possible with the LBS doing the tricky stuff.

Resources :
- Books
- YouTube videos
- Maintenance courses - KOM Cyclery run one ?

For those here who have built a bike can anyone provide any advice at all ??

shack attack

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

we were heading down on sat morning, while loading the car my bike was sitting in the back yard sporting a new set of Ritchey tyres ,when i went to get my bike I noticed a sm all pile of black stuff sitting just behind the rear wheel I picked some of it up to look at and realised it was chunks of rubber ,hmmm very strange! a close inspection of my tyre revealed three knobs of tread missing ,well it turns out my daughters pet rabbit (who roams the yard)has taken a liking to mtb tyres!no harm done my tyres performed brilliantly.

Menai (Lucas Heights) update for 19 Jul

Status:
Green/Open

Lucas Heights report for 18/7.

I'm calling it green, at least until the next rainfall. All of the singletrack we rode was dry. There's a few large puddles in depressions on the firetrails, but not the full width of the road, so they are able to be easily ridden around.

Lots of motos wreaking havoc on the singletrack out there yesterday. One moto had a broken chain - would have been a challenge getting it back home.
