Cascades update for 20 Aug

Area:
Cascades
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Lots of water on the track and a fair bit of clay.... Some rocks have moved around are in the landing zone when launching off the water bars so watch for these.

All in all it's well worth a ride so long as you don;t mind getting wet and washing your bike!

Clarinda St update for 20 Aug

Area:
Clarinda St
Status:
Red/Closed

Sat Aug 20 , 2011: The track between Clarinda street and Galston gorge has been graded with heavy machinery . Rocks and boulders have been removed from the track. Currently mutiple sections with 20 cm mud and soft clay due to the heavy rains that we have had in the past 2 days. Several weeks with dry weather will be required to make it ridable again (but less enjoyable).

Formula brakes (vs Avid)

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I appeciate that everyone is going to have their favourite brakes but I am interested in people's opinions of Formula R1 brakes especially in comparison to Avid X0 or XX. It is for an XC bike that comes stock with Formula R1s but I don't really have any knowledge of them and am wondering what they are like and whether I shoud think about swapping them out. I have used Elixirs on other bikes and although they have their problems I guess I have become used to these brakes.

Ranger Co-Operation

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Was just on rotorburn trying to find some updated info on Menai and came across a thread about a maintenance day with the rangers and asking for volunteers. Guys have put some major effort into getting the council and rangers coming around and now they now we wish to help not hinder their trails. It will be great when we get to this point. See below;
