track still reaping the rewards of a recent trackwork day although parts of the northern loop are still quite overgrown - although all very rideable and enjoyable

First Night ride
Ok well i purchased a nitelight series 2 yesterday and was keen to test it out as I had never rode at night before unfortunately I did not have time so looked like today was the day. Loaded the car and headed up to Terrey Hills and rode Perimeter and Cowan with a little bit of the single track on Perimeter thrown in. All I have to say is man its a different experience riding trails at night, especially by myself but thoroughly enjoyed and look forward to doing more night rides and spending my time with all those noises in the bushes and the darkness that surrounds you.

Oaks Trail incl singletrack Sat 15 May?
I'm thinking of organising a ride in the easy direction next Saturday morning early. Haven't done it before and my usual ride partner is tied up with work over the weekend.
I hear there are a couple of - ahem! - interesting corners on the fire road descent to catch the unwary. If anyone is up for playing the role of guide, it would be most excellent to have along at least one familiar face who knows the trail, especially the entrance to the singletrack, which is supposed ot be one of the best bits.
Let me know if you're interested and I'll post it up.

XC Fun at Stromlo
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
The big car park near the event centre and toilets.
I am heading down to Canberra for work at the end of the week and decided to stay for a ride Saturday morning.
Planning a medium paced XC ride. Going up the switch backs and have a look at the course from the worlds, hamerhead etc. Then up the fire trail and to the observatory and back down skyline and the luge. Probably some of the blue trails from the map after that and whatever there is time for.
I am happy to go exploring if there a people with some more local knowledge.

Sinlge Speed effort
Hit the dam on the SS for a double lap session so timed the first one. Had a good clean hit out from the school with no hold-ups. Managed to ping a few riders on the hill, and then got 2 XC duallies at the top of the next pinch. Trailed them through the fire trail, and took them on the climb up to turning off to 19th hole. Basically raced them from there on in - they got me on the last open flat section where the considerable lack of gearing paid its price. Then hammered back up to the school.

How annoying?!?
So
Took the new bike out for it's maiden voyage this weekend. A little trip down to Canberra to play on the flowing singletrack of Mount Stromlo, all very nice and very exciting.

Hover bike
So this is how Hamo wins all the time, he's using one of those fancy hover bikes.
