great condition, just a few damp patches from the recent drizzle..... Sitting in the sunshine at the 19th hole was a blessing worth bottling.

Royal National Park update for 08 May

Status:
Green/Open

All tracks fast and dry. Trail fairies have been doing a great job.

Some nicely formed berms near the Blair Witch section of singletrack. Thumbs up.

Great ride!

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Wow what a great race! Felt really good for the first 50 and pretty much the whole race really. Passed Groover just after the river crossing and I didn't envy his his upcoming hill climb with only 3 gears to choose from. Kudos for sticking it out. The race plan went pretty much perfectly with nutrition working smoothly and no cramps or mechanicals. That's the good news the bad news is I really have no excuses for not going around in under 5 hours. So close but oh so far. I only went 7 mins faster than last year when I felt completely crap - funny how the body works sometimes.

Mounting Garmin Edge 305

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

With the recent talk here I decided to show my home made Garmin cover/mount.

All you need is clear table cloth from Bunnings (cut from a roll), velcro strap, adhesive foam (optional) and small piece of 4mm ply (optional) as per below
Garmin Mount Items

Cut the plastic cover 280mm by 350mm.
Cut the ply to 34mm by 82mm

Wrap the Garmin as per below
Garmin Mount Initial Wrap

Fold the ends as per below. You will notice I fold the lower one 20mm from the end first as this can help stop water getting in.

Garmin Mount Last Step

You simply insert the velcro strap through the folds and do up. Using this method means you can mount a battery under your stem first for night riding and then have a longer velcro strap for the Garmin and go around the battery as well. Its quick to do and works a treat Smiling

Garmin Mount Second Step

You fold up the ends and the one folding from the bottom I also fold 20mm from the end to help prevent water getting in. Also with the bottom one, keep some room from the Garmin and the fold so it isn't too tight around the bottom buttons.

The first wrap. After a few uses the creases remain making is easy and quick

getting quicker

Date:
8 May 10

starting to get used to clip ins and times are continually coming down. Pretty confident that I will be sub 1 hr once i get my gearing fixed as I can only sit in middle ring as gears wont shift into big ring for some reason therefore losing time on the flats / downhill sections when I want that speed and drive power.
