Vestal Virgin 10 hour race 2 Man Team - Slot available (5th June)
Hi
Due to a last minute drop out by my teammate I'm currently going solo in my first endurance race (if you can call 10 hour 'endurance'). It's the Vestal Virgin series taking place at Awaba on Saturday 5th June, 12pm to 10pm.
It looks to be more of a fun, laid back affair than a true race (you can bribe the lap counters for a start) and teams can ride together and have their laps counted. For more info: http://www.twentysixinches.com/vvc

First Dirtworks (100k)
My first Dirtworks (and first 100k event) far exceeded expectations. Caught a lift with doc who was also up for his first dirtworks and after an easy drive up on saturday arvo we headed into St Albans which was packed with people and fancy bikes. We found a camp site and immediately bumped into Joe and another couple of familiar faces.

track condition
Hi all
I know its rained a little on the beaches today, however wondering if anyones ridden long trail in the last 24 hrs and its condition.

3 Ring Circus 2010
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
4Km SW of Wingello village on Caoura Rd there's a small base camp within the forest - seems as good a place as any.
The three loops (or Rings) pass through the Big Top event centre located at the Wingello Forest Trailhead. The loops will be completed in the order below:
Granny Gear - Blue Ring
6km of fast firetrail will separate the speedsters from the rose sniffers and allows riders to find their legs. There won’t be a lot of granny gear on the Granny Gear Ring.
Big Dog - Red Ring

Night spin at the Dam tomo
Night spin at Manly Dam anyone? Haven’t tried to leave work and get the ferry to Manly mid week before but the plan will be to arrive at the Hydro Lab for 7.30pm and do 2 laps. Pace will be sociable and hopefully reasonably consistent, though I’m shockingly unfit at the moment so we’ll see how that one goes…
I’m on for it as long as at least one other person is in

Race tips for first timer
I am attempting my first race at the Capital Punishment 50km later this month and wanted to get a better idea about what happens at the start if anyone can give me some tips.
Is it a bit of a sh!t fight? What do i need to add to my checklist? Does everyone take off like a rocket or just cruise away? Is there generally a bike lock up area so you can leave your bike there the night before or not? Can I show up and just go with my wave (as long as I am registered)?

Sparrow Hill update for 05 May
Rode Sparrow Hill on Saturday. The area accessible for riding has been reduced significantly by the logging operations with the northern half of the area now closed. This means the red loop is now much shorter. Gems like Spiderweb loop, heavy cow loop and others are closed. To make a decent length ride we had to ride the redirected red route and then the blue route. The sliver lining to this cloud is that you get to run Bobsled twice...
Apart from that, the trails were in great condition and the trail fairies have been out making sure everything links up well with some new trails added as a result.
Meanwhile, apparently the whole area is under threat from a proposed new road?
Do you have more information?
If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.
Please do not post comments with such information - post a new update with the link above.

Upgraded bike finally
Hey I am not new here, but new to posting...
Today I finally upgraded my actual bike instead of just repairing the old one. I have gone from a GT Palomar (199x) to a 2010 Scott Aspect 10..
These bikes feel worlds apart, the better shocks, gears and disc brakes!!
I normally ride the Terry hills/duck holes and Centre trail most afternoons and today's ride was so much easier and quicker than on the GT its not funny.
