The difference between flogging it and cruising?
Two weeks ago I put in a PB at the Dam so though it would be interesting to include this for comparison.
Conditions were better today, although a little warm the track was dry and had more grip. I almost had a pogo OTB on the first lap due to turning the damping on the lefty down a bit too far for some reason. This would not have been funny given I OTB'd twice on Sunday!

Total Fire Ban Confirmed
Heads up... this just came in from a local ranger:
Please note that there is a Total Fire Ban predicted for this weekend (21 – 22 Nov) this will lead to closure of all fire trails and tracks within the Sydney basin parks.
Here’s the Rural Fire Service website link to check Friday night if the ban will in fact be placed http://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/dsp_content.cfm?cat_id...
Keep safe.
Update: Confirmed for Friday 20th. See image.
There are some rides planned on the Oaks this weekend, but looking at the above and given the forecast temperature and winds it might be wise to postpone. Or at least double check conditions before setting off.
I don't know if this is a one off thing for this weekend, or a policy set in stone. It would seem wise to stay out of larger and more remote parks when the fire danger is extreme, but out of every park in the Sydney basin seems a bit excessive. Will update with more news as it comes in.

Trail Status of Canberra Trails
Hey,
I am going on a trip to Canberra on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of December (a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday), and I am worried that they may be doing trail maintainance during the week (instead of on busy weekends..).
Is there anyone I can call or a website I can check to look for scheduled maintainance?

Red Hill Ride - w Vanessa -Sunday style
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Park at the old entrance to Narrabeen Fitness Camp. Be ready to ride. Leave 17.00 Sharp.
If coming from Cromer Connection via garden of Gullies meet at The Sand Pit ( 33°43'32.54"S,151°15'31.62"E) around 17.15-17.30.
THIS RIDE WILL BE CANCELLED IF ITS ABOVE 30' AS PREDICTED! RED HILL GETS VERY HOT! SORRY
Need to be reasonably fit and have at least 1.5 litres of water. There there is no warm up its straight up hill from the start. The first 35 minutes is all climbing. But it is varied and interesting and goes fast. (I've been riding Red Hill for 4 years and know it extremely well.)
I'll be kind to those less fit and try and make it fun. The whole circuit usually takes me an hour but we'll do a slower version for the less fit/tech savvy.

The Oaks - New Riders with Average Fitness - Cancelled

Glenbrook Station.
Not a mistake. Yes, I am doing it Saturday and Sunday lol
6:53am depart Glenbrook Station
7:23am arrive Woodford Station
The ride takes me, a beginner maybe just creeping into the intermediate skill bracket with average fitness for a 40 year old about 2hrs. I am taking a new rider friend so expect this return trip to Glenbrook to take between 3.0hrs to 3.5hrs.

5th Time round the dam
Only new to riding. Just started about 6 weeks ago. When i did that time, i'd only been there a few times before + the Scott and thats the only experience on a mtn bike i've had. My fitness levels are good, being a personal trainer so i think i really need to work a lot on technique and bike fitness. Sub 40 min next week! A new addiction!!!!
