A race in reverse
My intention was always to enter for the original date but work schedule has been nuts of late so I only got my entry in a week or so ago.
The crowd was well down on previous years and the event centre buzz was not the same, I really hope it was the reschedule that caused this and not the start of this race’s slip from popularity.

Convict 44k for Kids!
Parenting is tricky business in the modern world and can certainly have its up and downs, victories and failures. Today was a victory, when my 12 yo son approached from behind at the 32k mark and said "Dad, keep up the pace"

Numb Feet, Working Together, Playing Limbo, and Water Drops
If you were to ask me how I thought I’d go in the Convict 100 at the end of April, I would have said this would be my strongest race yet. Training had been going well, I was well tuned into the reversed course and had had my mind set on it all year. After its unexpected postponement due to St Albans being flooded, things deteriorated, and circumstances meant that I found that it difficult to physically and mentally find the ability to spend much quality time on the bike, and my mediocre result in the 3 Ring Circus two weeks ago confirmed the effects of this.

Manly Dam update for 08 Aug
Did both the classic and extended loops today. Extended loop is in excellent condition with some new berm work on Possums getting the thumbs up from me.
The classic loop is still very wet at the Curl Curl creek crossing.
Not sure if it's natural erosion or if someone has tried to "assist" the drainage, but the face of some of the water bars on the fire road section on the Allambie side after Heartbreak Hill have had some drainage ditches cut in to the bottom of the face.
It makes for a pretty harsh hit if you're not expecting it. Manualling didn't work very well.
Some f-wit has removed the signs again that warn of the gap jump at the bottom of the Aquatic Centre track on the extended loop. I mean, seriously, who does that? FFS.
Other than that, all good. Enjoy. The new section near the Hydraulics Lab is much easier than it looked when I walked it a few weeks ago. Haven't tried the gap jump yet.
Do you have more information?
If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.

Tcivnoc 68 (or convict backwards)
This is my second convic, this time in reverse!!!t and what a beautiful day to ride. My mate Daniel and I arrived on a cold misty morning in St. Albans in time to see the 100km riders start. We then got ourselves changed and started to get prepared to take on the 68km race.

Withdrawn: WTB- Shimano 9 speed shadow rear derailleur mid cage.
Howdy. I'm looking for a mid cage Shimano shadow rear der. I think there was an XT mid cage, RD-M772 was the model. It'd be going straight on the commuter.
Not looking at spending heaps, but let me know whatcha got.
Thanks in advance.

Manly Dam
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Hydraulics Lab
I'm looking to do a lap or 3 of Manly Dam from 9am. Always better with company.
