gazza cocked up!

due to my procrastonistic nature ive missed out on an entry to dirtworks so if anyone pulls out of the 50 or 100km i'll buy the entry off them.
also ive decided not to do the sydney 24hr solo as ive heard there's some nasty climbs and i dont think it'll be a very nice intro to 24hr solo racing. if anyone pulls out of a moderately competitive team i'll be more than happy to jump on board and do my best.
yours hopefully,
gazza

Eggbeaters wanted

Does anyone have any used egg beaters or similar light weight pedals kicking around?
I'm thinking of trying some out at the Sydney 24.

RE:Barrington Tops - camp and ride weekend

Could anyone outline their experiences in riding in Barrington Tops ie where to camp/stay, what to ride if you have kids etc.

I am keen to go to Barrington Tops for the first time and I would love to ride around. I have seen the tracks on Google but wanted to get an inside view of how to do Barrington by Mountain Bike.

thx....

Yay sub 45!

WOW, what a difference a day makes. I only set my sub 45 goal yesterday.

Cracked the magic mark on my first lap... Had a group in front of me to pace myself and force me to go faster.

Second lap was pretty good, having consumed a Solo on the ride up the hill from the Hydro Plant to the School (not a good idea for future reference) = Sticky Handlebars!

Was keeping a good pace to catch up with the X-Mas Party Group, though I was less technically adept this lap.

Just after having passed the party before Downhill Freeway, and going up Heart Break hill - the bike stopped dead.

Missing the BBQ ;-( Crossing the Mekong in Laos

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

G'day Nobmob guys and gals!

Sorry for missing the BBQ - Benji and I will be there in spirit Eye-wink

Yesterday we did some more MTB'ing on our Vietnam -> Laos -> Cambodia family trip.

We stayed in the ancient Royal Capital of Laos (Luang Prabang) and crossed the mighty Mekong with a longtail boat...bikes and all...

Some more (dusty & hilly) cycling in the hinterland brought us to some remote hilltribe villages and challenging river crossings.

We would have been terribly lost if not for our local guide Chao which showed us the way.

Mtb'ing in Northern Laos - crossing the Mekong river on a long tail boat

"Don't pay the ferryman until he gets you to the other side...."

On a misty morning on the mighty Mekong river...we are heading for the (OK, small) rapids.

The ancient royal laotian capital Luang Prabang and the Pagoda on the hill in the background. Off we go ...
