My First 24 hour event
Slowly getting the race notches in my belt. Apart from a casual spin at the yellowmundee grand prix, this was not only my first 24 hour event, but also my first experience at a lap style team race. I have to say its a completely different style of riding/racing and its one I'm not so familiar with. I'm used to the endurance races where you lock into a sustainable rythm and just spin to your hearts content. This however I found much much harder than any other event I've done before. With the lap mentality you really do not allow yourself to let up at any point.

Hairy R's - Excellent Scott 24 Adventure
What a great weekend.
The weather was great - hot but great and the nights weren’t that cold.
Our camp site was in a perfect position – upwind from the dust, next to the natural bush toilets, far enough away from the loud speaker.

Sickness and Health
Was really looking forward to the CORC 24 after having a personally quiet disappointing Mont race last year (due to couple of injuries). Gazza, Cupcake, Tien, Buck, Loz and Rob combined to become 'Dr Nobs Bocz of pins and screws'. As it turned out was quiet nicely matched but sadly again I could not perform as well as I'd like.
My race went a bit like this...

that brain thing on the back of the bike
Hey Everyone,
Ok the bike has just gone in for a service and the diagnosis is not good. The Brain on the back of the stumpy needs servicing they say that is about $300 for the sevice of the brain and not the RP float. i have been recommended to go for a Fox Float RP 23 to save on $$ and servicing of the brain.
Some thoughts:
Obviously the brain has infinite adjustment and the RP23 has just 3, but you can do it on the fly. Thats cool.
The bike will also weight less as a result of losing the brain. (i dont mind shedding a few hundred grams of weight)
Fox 23 costs about $645 (ouch!!!)

Hard Case for rent - anyone?
Hi all,
I'm after a bike case (hard shell), the kind that will survive baggage handlers, for this weekend.
If anyone has one that they are willing to rent or knows of anybody that has one (and they're willing to rent it) please could you let me know.
Have tried KOM but they are all out this coming weekend.
Thanks in advance...

Terrey Hills Wednesday Night Ride
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Terrey Hills Tavern Car Park
Can't do Thursday, but still would want to get out this week. I was thinking about Duck Holes, Center Track and then maybe knit some additional k's on Perimeter and maybe even Long Trail into it. Not sure about all the track names, let me know if I am talking complete nonsense . Ah sure, quick beer afterwards in the Tavern, as well.
Any buyers for Wednesday night? All type of riders welcome. If two times Terrey Hills in one week is too much, I would also be prepared to swap over to Manly Dam.
Let me know, cheers,
Volker

SOCIAL Full Moon Night Ride Duckholes + Centre

Terrey Hills Tavern, Eastern Carpark
Thursday Social night ride - Duckholes & Centre
Stretch your legs - it's gonna be a beautiful FULL MOON night !
Starting from the Tavern as usual. This is a Thursday ride - (can't make it on Wednesday eve).
Naturally we'll have a cleansing ale at the Tavern afterwards.
[Everyone welcome - suitable for newbies, too!]
See you all on Thursday...
Rgds, Hans

CROC - 24Hr.....Stolen Bike
Bloody hell.... of all the evil things to happen while at an event. I had the extreme misfortune to have my bike and camelback stolen while on my way to the transition to begin my double night lap.
Stopped by the ammenities block for a nature break only to come out and find my bike and pack gone.
Well lit, and a fair amount of passing human traffic. Just so shocking that goons out there will do this kind of thing.
Do I take solace in that it was just completely random? 2900 competitors and bikes and it was me that was there just at that moment.... I dont know it still hurts.

Five Mile Creek
Hey All,
I am new here, me and my mate found the Manly Dam track a year or so ago and its great, really trying to get back into riding again (its fun, but time gets away you know)
I though i would post up the the 5 mile creek trail maybe closed this weekend due to a Hazard reduction burn by the NSW RFS.
Anyways look forward to getting back into riding some more and using this good forum!
