Definitely room for improvement!

Date:
1 Oct 08

EDIT #1: Just had another crack at it this evening. Shaved off 4.5 minutes. Only stopped once at the top of the loop on the stepped 180 reverse rock platform (Gets me every time). Managed to put all my other demons behind me and flew over the stuff that usually makes me stain my pants.

Start/Finish = Cnr King/Gibbs

Here's my first go. Wasn't really going for a timed lap, infact went back and re-did a couple of the trickier sections. Can definitely improve on this time if I stop dicking about. Still, good to get something on the board to have a go at.

Convict trail/Wiseman's to Mangrove Mountain

Hey all,

I probably should have planned this earlier, but am considering doing some rides around the convict trail(possibly from Wisemans) on Sunday and Monday. I'm wondering whether a topo map is advisable, as I've never done it before. Or are things generally pretty clear if I follow instructions from this site?

Cheers.

Cascades - Regular Thursday Ride

With Daylight Saving coming into force this weekend I wanted to try and get a regular Thursday 'after work' ride at Cascades organised. We had this going for a while earlier in the year but I never made it back after January thanks to a stack!

Anybody interested in a fairly regular ride at Cascades, approx 5.30ish

Winter Chain Lube

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi all. Can anyone recommend a great chain lubricant that works well all year round? I used to be a big fan of Rock n' Roll but i found through winter that it went pear shaped. In the cold weather the particles within seperate from the liquid a bit like a Coopers Pale Ale. The when you apply it is kind of crappy. (During a warm summer day it's fine). Warming the bottle in the microwave or down the front of my pants for 10 mins did help but was a hassle (and sometimes looked weid!). I looked at White Lightning and it looks like it might be subject to the same problem.

Start of Fling Loop from Basecamp

Ride Database Entry:
Wingello State Forest

Most of the first half of the Wingello route form '07/'08 Highland Flings

Lower Gully Forest Road

When I say this is most of the first half of the Wingello route, that's because it starts at base camp instead of coming into the forest from the village.

During the Highland Fling race the competitors don't return to camp of course, they head out on most of the WWS loop, to outer limits and beyond.

Wingello Sniggle

This course is hard to describe so best to follow the attached GPS. It's a great mix of single track and firetrail.

Wingello State Forest - map

Hi - I am staying in the Southern Highlands this w/e and was planning on riding the Forest section of the Fling.

Q. Does anybody know where I can download or get hold of a good map?

Q. Is the trail well marked?

Q. Does anybody know how long this takes roughly - I think its about 50+ klms?

Woftt.

I've always had a cast iron stomach and can tolerate most things well, I may have gone a little over the recommended dose of endura at the solo champs, probably 30-35 scoops in 24 1/2hrs of racing and never had a problem until I'd been stopped for 30min or so, I nearly missed the presentation, maybe I need a bit less magnesium this time round.
