The Oaks update for 01 Apr
Rode The Oaks yesterday. Both the fire trail and single track are in pretty good nick. There's a little bit of mud here and there on the single track and the technical section has dried out heaps in the last week. All in all everything is good with The Oaks!

Lane Cove National Park update for 01 Apr
Rode through from De Burgh's Bridge to Devlins Ck track yesterday. Slowly improving. Still plenty of wet bits, but enough dry sections now to start getting a bit of rhythm going instead of continually slowing to work out the best way through or around the bogs. Erosion on the sniggle at the top of Devlin's Ck track has made it a bit more techy. Some of the step ups heading upstream are getting a bit tricky. Turned around just before the last bit, so didn't see it all.

Blackbutt Reserve update for 01 Apr
Went through yesterday. Getting better. Not as many wet and boggy bits, but still not a clean ride.

Trail Maintenance
I'm new to NSW and am shocked by the amount of erosion, bog holes and water sitting on the MTB tracks around Sydney metro.
I’ve been involved in repairing and building legal tracks in WA, where a Department of Environment Officer is part of the team. Most of the problems facing the Sydney walking and mountain biking tracks seem to be related to reducing erosion. This is fairly easy and cheap but needs a bit of labour.
Now I have moved to Sydney I would like to help with track maintenance so that I can ride on good tracks in all weather.

Get a mental edge... participants needed
Most athletes will tell you that performance is all in the mind but the really successful ones don’t just say it, they believe it and they do something about it.
Imagine having:
• Laser sharp concentration
• Unshakeable belief and confidence
• Supreme mental toughness
• Higher levels of motivation
My goal is to change the field of cycle coaching in Australia by not just focusing on physical fitness but working on mental toughness as well. Racing is all about making decisions, there is no point being supremely fit if you don't have the confidence to make use of it.

Excuses
Slow! Had the flu all week, bludged on single track, etc etc

Dang!
I went shopping this morning for a replacement for my Garmin heart rate monitor strap which carked it at the Mont, and bought a speed and cadence sensor as well, with the aim of fitting to my Cannondale Rize.
Got home, ripped open the packaging and read the instructions (yeah, I do that - weird, huh?) then went to put it on the non-drive side chain stay and .... stopped.
Bugger. How's this gonna work?
