Duck Hole/Terrey Hills Trail update for 16 Dec

Status:
Green/Open

Bewdy bonza, as close to ace as Ventura.

POI, saw a 1 m snake near the bush fire station on exiting the track & heading up the access road. Looked it up & seems to be an Eastern Brown Snake considered the second most venomous land snake. Though when it saw me it did a quick runner off the road & into the brush.

Centre Track update for 16 Dec

Area:
Centre Track
Status:
Green/Open

A bit damp the first 200m at the Western entrance, the rest was bonza.

First time I have tried this track, loved it. More open & rocky, can really get up some speed while having your eyeballs rattle.
Is it just me, or does there seem to be lots of wallabies around this time of year?

Recent Giant test ride day

Did anyone go to the recent Giant 'Test Weekend' based around Ourimbah & Awaba?

I'm keen to hear about the new full carbon frame XTC 29er, and also the new XT or XTR drivetrain.

Anyone?

tips about Quary Rd trail - Hornsby

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi all,

I rode this trail quite a few times and I do it the following way:

1) Entering at the end of Stewart Ave, Hornsby.
2) Going all the way down to the bridge and then up until I reach that picnic area.

And here's the question - is there anywhere to go from there? I always turn around at that point and return to Steward Ave..

I heard there's more and I tried once to continue on a trail that starts from the far right side of the picnic area, but it got me no where and I turned around at some point, not sure where this trail leads to.

Our website probably won’t crash with the stampede of entrants. But it pays to get in early as we have limited numbers to 500 – to ensure the unique character of the event is maintained.
As our aim is PARTICIPATION before PROFIT – Entry prices have also not changed from last year!

WHAT’S THE TATHRA MTB ENDURO
Sweet, sweet single-track by the Sea!
If you’re tired of being marooned in bush try a cycling sea-change!

If you’re tired of being marooned in bush try a cycling sea-change!

The Tathra MTB Enduro is a community driven MTB event that caters for the whole family. Along with single-track Tathra, has plenty of sun and surf to keep the cheer squad and ‘significant others’ happy. The best news is – the start line is a mere roll from your digs in Tathra!

In 2011, 250 riders lined up for our first race, and we raised over $25,000 for renewable energy projects in the Bega Shire.

Lane Cove National Park update for 15 Dec

Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Plenty of puddles and damp sections of trail this afternoon, but if you're willing to get a bit muddy it's OK to ride.

Anyone lose a bike?

Came across this neglected machine up at Red Hill today. Was looking very sad and well beyond its prime. I thought at first it was one of the Virgin Mobile's "A Fair Ride For All" competition bikes because it had a combination lock on it!! But no.... Sad
The only good thing on this sucker was the bottle holder which was still quite shiney. The rear mech was all bent and twisted up into the spokes and was in turn just...DUMPED!! Very sad.

[Mod. Trail area galleries are for shots of trails, not dumped bikes. Moved to 'Anything Else']

Red Hill update for 15 Dec

Area:
Red Hill
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Although still quite wet on the firetrails in the usual places, most of the good stuff up top is relatively dry. I didn't ride the Beacon Hill end because it isn't much fun and the red clay would be a real wheel sucker. Stayed up the Northern end and it was pretty good.

New Bars Fitted

After riding the 29er with flat bars the risers on the Dale felt a bit weird so last night I fitted some nice FSA K-Force Carbon ones for the 8 1/4 hour on the weekend Smiling
