Sub 40 Awaba Red
I told the guys I wanted at least one sub 40 during the race, but secretely I thought I had 2 in me. I think I pushed a little hard on lap 3 and cramped up not long after Camel Back and had to back right off. Still managed one sub 40.

not fast enough

2011 at Fat Tyre Festival
Not sure if race conditions are fair, but there was a lot of fast laps out at Awaba yesterday.
Suprisingly my time is pretty close to last years FTF times, but the track is about 2km longer - go figure !
I must be getting faster.
Stan's rim strips failing
I've been running the standard Stans kit to convert my non-ust rims & tyres to tubeless lately but I've had 2 of the rims strips fail in the last couple of months. Somehow the valve has come away from the rubber rim strip & it no longer holds air. The liquid doesn't seem to be able to seal it & I have to buy a whole new rim strip. When the first one failed I thought, ok just one of those things, but after the second one failed in exactly the same way it made me concerned. Has anybody else had this happen? Or am I doing something wrong?

Rode here yesterday. Firetrails and singleTracks are in good condition.. hardly any muddy parts.

Cascades update for 18 Dec
Quarry trail from Ralston is quite rutted and water logged in places. Take care on largish loose exposed rocks. Some wide puddles now that are not disappearing. Quite dry and quick on the Stone Pde Davidson side. Almost green.

North Turramurra update for 18 Dec
Murrua track is pretty dry, although I didn't go out to the end of the fire trail. Link through from Murrua to Samuel King Oval has a few boggy patches, as does the sniggle through to Macrae Pl. Lovers Jump Ck track is wet at the bottom and the rocks on the creek crossing are pretty slippery, but other wise is good. Darri Track loop (off bedford Ave) is pretty wet in lots of places.
