Inspired by this post at BMORC http://bmorc.com/node/21232

I thought I'd reproduce a few points and add a couple more here

* It is not illegal to ride on a track located on council land unless sign posted otherwise by council.

* It is not illegal to cycle on a trail within crown land unless specifiically banned in the areas PoM and sign posted otherwise by the land manager.

In Tuesday's Mercury:

DOWNHILL cyclist Joel Willis is a young sportsman going places … and fast.

Although only 13 years of age, Joel races in the under 15 age division, but this has not been a setback for the talented rider having built up an impressive list of achievements for one so young.

He is now a State champion after contesting the Downhill NSW championships in Awaba after beating some of the best riders in Australia.

Hassans Walls update for 17 Apr

Area:
Hassans Walls
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Continued issues with some moron placing logs and stick over Ch6.

Also a caution on the main rd. Council have done some work but whatever they have used for a topper smells like a tip and is full of rubbish with Barnsie copping a flat tyre due to a bit of twisted angleline...

Considering the restriction council is placing on us in regaurds to what we can use to construct the new DH trail that will run alongside the road its disappointing that they would then go and dump crap from a rubbish heap on the main road.

The boys have cleared the Gun Club and it's running nice.

Most of the other tracks are fine, if a little over grown but some idiot is placing logs across Ch6, some in places where you don't see them until you're on them. Hopefully it doesn't escalate to stupid man traps but take it easier and if you see anything suspicious report it to council or police

Started out hard trying to break 10 mins. Was looking good with the last straight to go at 7:50 but than hit the wall and it took over 2 mins to make the final bit.
The best thing was NO FLATS !!!

trail fairies

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Trail fairies have been very at Rydal busy again.

The rain wasn't really soaking in but should do the dug jumps and berms a bit of good
Lincon and Stevie have put in big efforts. Me and Tallis did some more digging. Todd was ripping in too. Richard plans to head out again tomorrow.

I meant to take the camera out to get some pics but completely forgot,

Again if any one has time to do a bit of raking, whipper snipping and sculpting just head on out and do your best.

faded

Gave it a crack. I've updated to a 2x10 drive chain which helped force me to stay in a bigger gear than I normally do it in and at the halfway point I thought I was good for sub 11 min. But I faded pretty bad towards the top.

But a quick stretch out and I felt good so thought I'd test out how much the 2x10 effect the top range

00:3:14 on the downward journey with a slightly reduced top end speed of 63km/hr, but hey it's not that often you're on dirt spinning out top gear anyway
