NZ South Island knowledge

Hi guys, I'm lucky enough to be spending Christmas nr Queenstown this year, the missus and I are going to take the XC bikes over and I know there are a plethora of single track rides and circuits there, but I have been instructed to find a scenic ride, my partners fairly fit so I would think something along the the lines of the Anderson and oaks with views? This ride could also be in Wanaka or maybe Arrowtown, any recommendations would be a great help.
Thanks
Dan

Best rear tyres for Manly Dam - Tubes

Hi all,
Appreciate there's been many threads on tyres before but most seem to recommend tubeless. Any views on best tyres (running with inner tube) for Manly Dam on a 29er Hard tail?
I'm currently on Bontrager which came with the bike. I commute as well so a hard wearing option would be great (yes I'll get a commuter bike one day, and perhaps run tubeless on the MTB then). I'm not aiming for Gold at the Olympics - just want to get up that damn rock garden and around the Dam without dismounting as fast as I can.
Cheers,

Carry your rubbish out please?

warning; grumpy old man long rant short version

Hey Mr "insert name of tool who can’t take his rubbish with him", No doubt that you’re an awesome AM rider and thus entitled to smashing down the odd can of Redbull/Monster/V while changing out your tube because you pinch flatted on landing that sketchy A line.. (begin slow clap) but please carry out the cans/tube/other crap in the pockets of your baggies.. (begin booooooooo)

But its all good "bro".. someone else carried it all out for you.

Magpie scoreboard

On my ride to work this morning I started getting a little paranoid about getting involved in avian confrontation. I've been noticing zip ties on helmets recently and figured an impact was lurking. The I got to thinking how it would be a good idea to have an online register so I can plan my route to work accordingly. And lo and behold!

If anyone is riding from Frenchs forest to Lane Cove, please can you keep it up to date Smiling

Cheers

TrailFlix.com shutting down

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Recently, I was made aware that Sydney's primary MTB track information page, TrailFlix is going to close after 7 years on the next as a result of the time, effort and other commitments (such as cycling itself!)

Menai single track this Sunday

Hi Fellas,

Anyone out there who could give any advise or opinions re: the new single track at Menai/Lucas Heights? i.e difficulty, distance, fun factor, ride ability in wet weather and directions as the directions and google map on NOBMOB seem to keep taking me to some place in Artarmon which I'm sure is incorrect.
I've never rode at Menai and I thought it was off limits nowdays but I've been told it's recently re-opened with new singletrack that's supposed to be quite good so I'm looking forward to hearing your feedback.

Thanks in advance.

New Zealand - Pahaki Trail or Taupo?

Has anyone ridden both the Pakahi Trail and Taupo? For someone who prefers gravity what would you choose?
