MTB Weekend away from Sydney
Hi
I am looking at planning a 49ish birthday weekend for a bunch of mates. Does anybody have any recommendations of tour companies in the blue mountains, kangaroo valley, canberra, jindabyne, gloucester - some where a few hours out side of Sydney.
I am looking for a company that will take as much of the hassle of getting a bunch of blokes away for the weekend as possible. Some of the guys will have no experience or a bike.
Thanks in advance. (And sorry if I have posted this in the wrong forum!)
Mark
Not again!
Not wanting to spark a debate but after the manufacturers push to get everyone on 29ers and now "forget them you need a 650b" approach I came across this clip. I'm slightly biased being a 26inch fan but I seriously couldn't see a 29er being this agile, quick and fun.
I'm sure many will comment and eyes will roll but forget the debate and just admire the 26 for it's true brilliance that got us all hooked on this awesome sport.
Guess what I did...
Went for a ride last night.
Check my route and try and guess what I did...
Cheers,
Mike.
Singapore
So I'm on a school exchange to singapore for the next 5 weeks, and I'm already missing my bike.
I understand there's a small scale bike park with a few trails, does anybody know of any riding, including this, and anywhere i can hire a decent bike?
I know it's a longshot but i might as well ask
Cheers
Chris
Christchurch, New Zealand
I was back in NZ this week and talking to some mates about MTB.
They pointed me at this article and the fact it is like 5km from the centre of town.....

I started MTB in Chch 20 odd years ago, and back then it was a sweet place to ride. There have been many tracks put in since then and some very regular events.
They have a winter night race series which attracts upwards of 150 riders each race!
Airlie beach bike hire
Hi guys
Heading up to airlie beach for 10days of work in August, is there anywhere to hire a reasonable road bike while I am there? I have no access to a car and would like to do some training for the mont 24!
Any ideas are welcome!
So you think commuting in traffic is scary?
This is a stage sprint finish from the Tour de Suisse... from the inside.
Huge amount of yelling, shouting, fending off, overlapping wheels. Amazingly intense. I had no idea.
Loaner bike?
A colleague expressed keen interest in tagging along for a mtb ride, and he has some cycling experience but his urban bike is back hone in the US.
I can potentially loan him one of mine, but at 6'6" or 198cm he might be a bit cramped on my Large.
I'm wondering if anyone in northern Sydney has an XL they might be prepared to loan for a Sunday. Wheel size doesn't matter, and while full suspension would be nice a hardtail is perfectly fine. I have flat pedals I can fit.
Riding on shared paths
My riding route yesterday took me along a marked shared path (one of the very few that has been built totally separate from the road in my area) which is normally not a problem however yesterday I had a very near miss with a pedestrian.
What can a cyclocross do?
I know that there are a few cyclocross riders on this forum, so please forgive the not-quite mtb related questions directed at them.
