Manly Dam update for 06 Aug

Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

The Dam wasnt too bad this morning. Riders need to be careful of the newly exposed rocks due to the recent rain. A 4wd has been thru the fire trail and left deep ruts in some of the clay bogs so take care as the deep spots are still soggy. New lines are starting to develop on the fire trail as riders are adjusting to this.
I believe that the single track leading down to the 19th MAY be closed as their is a lonesome sign saying that part of the track is closed??? A quick walk down reveals the logdrops etc have almost doubled in size...
The rest of the single track has basically dried out, again leaving some exposed rocks here and there. Some of the speed hump logs have become quite pronounced now... Good opportunity to go OTB.
The boardwalk leading down to the labs is fine, but there are some interesting drops and rocks after it...
The track past the school has a damp patch before leading up to the pinch. Be aware of the nicely placed rocks in the puddles...
The rest of the track is great! All the way back to the wakehurst entrance.
Almost green - except for the Closed section - so still amber.

Just a "looking at the trees" ride today with a mate that hadnt ridden in a few weeks.
I tell you what tho... You notice when you havent ridden the Dam... Its a workout!
But seeing as you asked... approx mid 40 mins

Did a couple of laps last weekend. Once the pre-ride coffee wore off and my stomach started to remind me I was overdue for lunch I noticed the nearly empty tank was leading to small stupid mistakes.

Those tree roots off the end of the bottom hydro lab boards are not forgiving of incorrect line choice, eh!

Were the rocks and the log still in place at the last roll-down at 19th Hole?

I think the trail closed sign was just a mistake.

Yep the rocks and log were there on Thursday night and still there this morning. That area at the bottom seemed to dry out pretty quick, I would have to say the improvements had something to do with that and maybe the heat as well Eye-wink

Sums it up nicely. Went for a ride with a couple of mates yesterday too and found a block of concrete in the middle (on entry) of the bridge.

Not hard to avoid but it had clearly been put there by someone. We moved it out of the way, but later we thought we should have moved it further away.
