At a Glance
This is a private riding facility in the Watagan Mountains north of Peats Ridge. A range of riding is on offer - from wide dirt roads and jeep tracks to steep downhills and technical singletrack. Riders need to contact the owner beforehand to arrange to ride, and sign a waiver. An annual membership option is available for those who would like ongoing access.
The start point is 3.5km down Collins ave, Kulnura (off George Downs Drive).
The property has a wide range of riding options. Most trails are wide-ish single track carved into the hillsides of steep terrain - plenty of lung-busting climbs and multi-berm descents. Five graded trails are marked
- a 5km gently sloping broad Green loop with interesting sniggles but no big climbs or drop-offs
- modestly challenging blue and yellow looks - each about 4km long with some bridges, hillside goat tracks and pinch climbs
- Red and Black loops (4km each) with more than 500m of climbing/descent per loop, a 25m suspension bridge, an aerial switchback and long berm-filled downhill runs. .
There are also plenty of fire roads on the property and the adjacent state forest - great for kids and beginners if the singletrack is daunting - and also a suitable launching pad for an epic ride through the adjacent 25,000 hectare Olney State Forest.
Toilet facilities, water, wifi and quality bike hire are all available onsite. There is also a small dam for cooling off in on a hot day, and plenty of picnic spots. All trails are under dense forest cover so there's little need for sunblock!
