Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Green/Open

Dry and clean so definitely "Green".

There are truck tracks on the downhill from Wakehurst Parkway to the creek and some large rocks lying about which seem to have been disturbed by the truck. Obviously it was a big truck. I didn't see any signs of works so either the truck was the RFS going for a drive or the Park Rangers were working on a walking track somewhere off the ride track.

There is a large pile of dirt/gravel at the start of the Powerlines track down to the 19th hole - I assume they are actually going to level and pave Hawkeye's Bugbear as per my recent suggestion. That will make this section much faster Smiling

Wildlife Report: one Superb Fairy-Wren, male, bright blue. No Butcher Birds and no reptiles Today Sad

yea I was going down the hill last night & got a massive fright when this massive red sign reflected back at me through the bushes. LOL
just before the creek. Had a bit of a giggle prolly no one working at 8.30 at night.

i thiught I saw two big massive piles of dirt/rock last night....
one athe start of he Steps leading to the 19th hole.......

That's right just after the start of "Frankles descent" just after the Tennis courts up in Allambie heights.

disclaimer. Not sure if "Francles descent" is an Official name or someone just came up with it on Strava but it sounds great.

1. those trucks on the downhill might have been supplying works to improve the running track before the big race and if this is the case then maybe we should organise a big race on the MTB track to force some improvements beforehand? (obviously this is meant as humour - I don't think racing at Manly Dam is a good idea).

2. If you mean the run down from the Tennis Courts to the track itself then "fankles descent" sounds like a good name for that section.

2. YEA thats the one. In Strava it runs from the tennis courts all the way down to the bridge at the waterlabs

Fankles... haven't heard from him in ages... I think he's gone to the dark side. Sad

The piles of crushed sandstone near the top of 19th Hole are for the volunteer trail maintenance day coming up on December 2. Chris Buckley (head ranger) has managed to pull a rabbit out of a hat to get us the materials we asked for.
