Manly Dam update for 09 Dec

Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Green/Open

I did a lonely early lap this morning. All clear and dry, even a bit sandy in places, so definitely "Green/Open".

Wildlife Report: No Butcher Bird, a few Ravens, and a couple of Trail Runners (left over from last week?). Also NB: judging from the half kg of spider webs I was wearing at the end, there will be a large number of homeless spiders around the track - so keep your wits about you!

Do you have more information?

If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.
Please do not post comments with such information - post a new update with the link above.

ohh well all the spider webs probably confirm you were the first one through for the day.

I'm heading up there now with some kids in tow.

Thanks for taking care of the spiders cambo Laughing out loud Keep your mouth closed on the descents Eye-wink

Addition to the wildlife report: lots of magpies, a monitor lizard and a bunny rabbit. Track was dry, trail works at the top of 19th Hole lead-in trail looked nice and solid.

I'm always nervous first time around, dropping the seatpost a centimetre transformed the bike.

Nice work Hawkeye. You got some serious power in those legs of yours.

You're talking the PR on Heartbreak Hill? I have to confess, I cheated!

There was a cast of thousands at the creek crossing and I got baulked on my line, but there had been some funny noises coming from the front end on the descent so I took the interruption as an opportunity to stop and look it over. We chilled for a couple of minutes or so before moving off again. Must have got some grit in the brakes that washed out on the creek crossing, because the noise didn't return - thankfully.

It did feel good to clean the climb, though. After Camelbak Climb at Awaba and Heartrate Hill at Kiwarrak the previous weekend, it felt short! Maybe (just maybe) I'm getting a bit fitter too.

I really enjoy the second and third laps - getting into the rhythm of the terrain, pumping the waterbars and downslopes always feels really good, like you're flowing with the track instead of fighting it. Smiling

Happy with 46 minutes for the third lap. The other two had interruptions for photos and my riding buddy's mechanical, so not so bad considering I'd run out of carbs at the start.

Nice one, must be some fitness there.

Happy to manage two in a row, actually haven't done that since last summer! WIP
