With this rain it must be so wet again-wet weather route for the weekends race Lenny?

Do you have more information?

If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.

Tiffany had been talking about enforcing the wet weather route earlier in the week, so I hope so.

I will be p!ssed off if its a free for all on single trail with 400+ bikes.

With that wind there must be trees down & breakers on the lagoon!

Tiffany rang to tell me the race is on, but restricted to fire trails. I don't know how you restrict people out on the course but I really hope no one is on the trails.

Won't take many wheels to make a mess today. Actually even some of the fire trail sections won't take a lot of traffic to blow out.

Bizzare that its still allowed to go ahead.

Maybe the entrants sign a watertight indemnity form!

Well the fact that the MaxAdventure guys run the event in any weather conditions says a lot about how much they care for or respect the areas they are racing in.

From what I could see they came up Scenic Drive(from where no idea?) then down the easement at where Scenic/City Rd junction to where no idea?-there were bike racks up near the gates where they would go down Fernleigh Loop to where no idea? & when I asked what route they were using, can you show me on the map-no one had any idea???

I spoke to the HMBA pres who was there when the transition at Gun Club gates was on, he said they came up GC road and then down the bitumen.

Both Mick and myself though have had reports of the single trail being used. Tiffany is looking into it now, I might have a look tomorrow, but am not going out now.

Has been out to look and says they did stick to fire-trail and bitumen, best result ever I'd say.
Don't know how tomorrow will go though.

I was in the race yesterday. The event organiser briefed everyone before the race and stated that due to poor weather conditions the 'wet' route had been put into place (as opposed to the surely amazing single track 'dry' route). He emphasised that if you had to ride single track then you were going the wrong way and that this was the only way the race was allowed to continue. There was no shortcuts or advantages to be had by going off the fire/access trails so no reason for anyone to do so. Hopefully there isn't too much damage to the trails that were ridden. I have the route map so if anyone would like to know what the course was just ask.

I met with NPWS today about some other stuff (see the post on the front page), had a look at the wet weather route and its exactly as you say. Spoken to several people in the event as well.

Would have loved to see people cross the swamp at the bottom of the firetrail easement from scenic drive to Gun Club road, its a wet bog hole at the best of times. NPWS have tried dumping rocks in there for vehicular access and they just sink.
