Amber/Some Issues

Just received some great news from the NPWS. The assessment and safety works have been carried out on Snakes and Ladders, Hang Ten and on Gun Club Road.

So, as of now the park os officially open for cycling. As talked about before though, the Yeulabah Management Trail, Lower Section of Easy Way out (the management Trail to the creek) and Quarry Loop will remain closed for a while longer.

The NPWS asked to forward this message;

“Sections of Glenrock State Conservation Area that have recently been closed due to wildfire activity have been assessed for tree fall risk, by suitably qualified NPWS staff, and we can advise that the following tracks and trails have had dangerous trees removed and are now open to the public: Yuelarbah Walking Track; Baileys Fire Trail; Hang Ten Track; Snakes and Ladders Track and Gun Club Road Fire Trail.

The following tracks have been assessed as being unsafe for public use, and will remain closed until 14th October 2013: Yuelarbah Management Trail between Flaggy Creek and Hang Ten Track; Quarry Loop; Lower Easy Way Out/Easement Trail South;
NPWS strongly advise that cyclists, walkers and trail runners remain on formed single track, and do not enter areas impacted by fire off the formal trail network.”

It really would be appreciated if the closures could be observed.

In terms of the DH trails on the south of gunclub road, at this point there has been no assessment done on these trails, and the NPWS has asked us to pass this message on. Signage is up, but it may not stay for the long term.

Riding Snakes n Ladders feels like a new trail!

Great day for a ride. Apart from those who chose to ride down "It Happens". Has someone moved a heap of rocks near the big tree or has the tree moved...?
Also lots of skid marks and dickheads riding down snakes and ladders. This trail will get trashed if people keep doing this, especially after rain with no vegetation. The most vegetation is between peoples ears going the wrong way.

There is a thread on here about a rider placing some signs there & expressing their displeasure at the illegal trail works done.

I was looking at it today, line with rocks is still there below the tree, just people are riding above the tree. In riding up the trail, when I stopped and watched not a single person riding took the original line.

At the very least we will need to rock the line. While the hump is there water flow will be fine, but once it wears we will need to reinstate it. Whether we work with the new line or try and close it will need to be resolved though.

While I don't like the trail changing outside of build days, I hope the signs don't make a return.

The bigger issue I noticed was on the easy line around the chute on Kenny's. On one of the rock steps, someone has removed a rock so it is starting to groove and water will flow down the trail instead of off the trail at the rocks. We will need to fix it in the sort term. The It....Happens modifications while annoying (I got some photos) will hold for the short term.

The larger issue is still people travelling the wrong way down It Happens and Snakes. I'm seek of nearly getting cleaned up by skidding dickheads while I'm slogging my guts out on a good climb.
